Added 2025-10-21 18:28:35 +0000 UTCWow... so I have looked forward to this movie for a while, since my brother said how good it was (he is a big fan of the book), but I simply wasn't prepared. I am not sure anyone can be. Please watch at your digression.
It is a brilliantly written, and performed movie. It was much more powerful than I expected it to be, and left me completely emotionally empty.
If you haven't seen this yet, be warned, it was some pretty graphic and upsetting scenes. But I am so glad I managed to check it out spoiler free.

Oh now that was a tough watch, but an amazing one at the same time. Powerful and engaging right to the end, so major props to the actors and writers, as you said it was literally just people walking and talking interspersed moments of brutality. I must now read the book to see how it compares!

2025-10-25 11:48:40 +0000 UTCI was already hesitant to watch this knowing it's King and how little I support him. However, learning that it's more drivel about Vietnam just reinforces that. No, we did not win Vietnam, and there was no way we were going to win it. However, there was a reason we were involved, and losing it meant a terrible fate for many of the Vietnamese stuck there. Sorry, but I know far too many people who were directly affected by the evil North Vietnamese government to have any sympathy for that side. About 1/3 of my classmates growing up were children of people who fled the country and could not return due to that government. I wasn't going to comment, but the other side has to be heard about this issue because revisionists far too often try to make everything hunky dory.
