SPOILER ALERT! - If you have not watched the show before, don't read the following review until you have! :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We bloomin' made it! Even with the title of the episode, I wasn't expecting us to actually reach the North Pole!

I bloomin' love the Water Tribe city! What an incredible design, and the way it all works, I definitely have an even bigger appreciation for their skills!

The bloomin' Katara fight was brilliant! I was advised that this episode had a scene missing in some versions, so thank you for the warnings, and thanks for to those that helped make sure I had the right version.... was it really THIS they cut?????

Oh bloomin' wow, it looks like we are ready for the season finale! I discuss how we are going to do it at the end of the video. I think I have come up with the fairest way of doing it. :)

Hope you had a great week, guys!!

Finally caught up 💃🏻

What I love this about this episode is that it sort of takes a left turn from what you expect. The whole season has been leading up to Aang learning waterbending. You almost forget that learning from a master has been Katara's dream much longer than Aang (in practical terms). We get a pivotal Katara focused episode almost out of nowhere.

Veggie, you're a sweetheart! One day your head's gonna explode, cause you try to please everyone! But I think your happy medium decision is the best of all worlds. The difference between the southern and northern water tribe is absolutely fascinating. I think the southern tribe was always more spread out and "rural", so the fire nation had an easier time picking them off one after the other. That is why there are so few and no benders (except of course Katara). The northern tribe is a bigger society, so they were able to defend themselves better and built a big city and whatnot, but that also means that they have way more rigid hierarchies, and the traditional gender roles of the times are even more pronounced and separated. Funnily enough, Sokkas was sorta right proclaiming himself a prince. He IS the son of a southern water tribe chief. Since they lack the northern structure of hierarchy, the argument could be made that it is the equivalent to "prince". Obviously noone would ever say that and you have to be very loose with your definition of that word, but the argument can be made...

The finale for book 1 is fantastic. I'm really looking forward to your reaction to it.

That is the best way to do it. And a dollar is not much to pay either. I am sooo exited for the next one

Excited for the next 2 episodes!!!

Great episode! Great solution for the ending 2 episodes I really thought you ought to watch them together even if it didn't come out for everyone together but this solution is great. I am excited to get into season 2, it is my favorite season, not that 3 is bad either but 2 is just my jam for sure.

I'd love to answer your question about female Fire and Earthbenders but I've gotta wait. XD This episode is why I'm not hard on Sokka about his sexism; it seems more like a cultural failing than a personal one. I do like that Katara doesn't win the duel; she's an excellent Waterbender but she still has room to learn.

Hi Veggie! You were correct when you said "maybe Zuko was able to bend the fire" during the explosion. If you watch carefully, you can see him start to bend the fire right before we cut away to the explosion.

Hey Veggie, we're nearing the end of season 1 of ATLA and I realized you haven't said your favorite person from each episode in a while. I'm excited to see if you have a favorite character from season 1 once you finish. Loved how you recognized the pirate guy and perfectly quoted his line. "that's good". Had a good laugh at that. Looking forward to the last two, take care my dude
