Deleted Scene from The Muppets Christmas Carol! (no sync required)

Hi guys! So a few of you mentioned in my Muppets reaction how a certain song had been cut from the newer versions of the movie. So as a 'Christmas Miracle', I have added a seperate reaction to the scene here! It is pinned in the comments of the Youtube edit, but just in case if some of you don't get that out, just wanted to post here to let you know! :) LOVE this scene WHY did they cut it??

Love you guys!!

Some may find it dull, but it makes so much more sense considering that without it, Michael Caine goes from stone-faced to sobbing in a single cut. Just listen to a song for 3 minutes, people, a little culture won't hurt you

If you are still wondering why you have heard this song before it’s because there is a reprise at the end of the movie - “when love is found”.

Sort of. There is a “Full Length” version in the Special Features section. The one that actually pops up is the one without the song, so you have to dig a little to get to it.

Personally, I'm glad they cut this scene from the movie in newer versions. I always thought it dragged on too long and would always fast forward during that part. TBF, I would be happy if they just cut down the song a bit and still had a bit of the song in there. But if I had to choose (again, personally) between it being completely cut out or fully in, I'll take the cut out version.

The song has never been cut for me as have only ever seen the uk vhs version which is the only version I've ever seen since release and is the copy i watch every year. The reason you know the song is that it is actually in the film, at the end when the muppets and scrooge are gathered round the table at bob cratchets but this time they are singing the lyrics "the love we found"

The simplist answer is that Disney executives felt that it was too emotionally mature for children and probably wouldn't fully comprehend the scene anyway. Its also been my experience that a lot of people who grew up on this movie felt that the scene was a bit annoying as they felt like it dragged on a bit too longer. I myself remember thinking once "Scrooge has walked off. Why are you STILL singing?" So it was cut originally from the theater release. But I they did reinclude it in the VHS. But I know they kept it out of almost all TV airings. I've heard the have reincluded it on Disney+ though.

Like you said, to this day, the majority of us still wonder why this was cut from the future releases. Now to rewatch your Harry Potter reactions for the 3rd time because it's Christmas. :)
