Movie Watcher Reads Harry Potter For the First Time! - Goblet of Fire Chapters 32 & 33!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! We celebrate the end of the year with the most heartwarming and lovely chapters of hope and peace! <3

Seriously though... these were brilliant! XD

Note the run time - so sorry it is a shorter episode, guys! It would have been longer if I had done what some suggested and covered 3 chapters, but I really make a mistake of over burdening myself in November, and it is kinda lucky we landed on 2 shortens at this point. Back to the usual massive run time next time! XD

Hope you have a wonderful week!

This is the first time you learn that Voldemort killed his own father. But we did learn about his blood status in Chamber. This quote might clear up some of your confusion about stuff: 'I AM LORD VOLDEMORT "You see?" he whispered. "It was a name I was already using at Hogwarts, to my most intimate friends only, of course. You think I was going to use my filthy Muggle father's name forever? I, in whose veins runs the blood of Salazar Slytherin himself, through my mother's side? I, keep the name of a foul, common Muggle, who abandoned me even before I was born, just because he found out his wife was a witch? No, Harry- I fashioned myself a new name, a name I knew wizards everywhere would one day fear to speak, when I had become the greatest sorcerer in the world!”'

I was in my 40's when I started reading the books around 2005 so no the graveyard scene didn't scare me. Even as a kid it wouldn't have since I grew up when movies like Jaws and Poltergeist were rated PG. 🤣 I realized it wasn't part of the Tournament almost immediately. The graveyard scene is one of the best scenes in the movie. Harry didn't want to seem scared or paranoid in front of Cedric.

When I've read the chapter's title then I knew that it's not part of the task.

Veggie!! You missed my silly name for Voldy in my comment! The spell from Stone that I was referring to was the one Fred gave to Ron… Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, Turn this stupid fat rat yellow I’ve been trying to remember how old I was when I first read Goblet. It came out when I was almost 10, but I was a little late to the Harry Potter game. Didn’t start reading the books until I was 9 or 10. I don’t remember being scared reading these chapters though…

So first off, mad props to Jonas! Your sidepanels look always good, but I just LOVED the one with the couldron for chapter 32! On the chapter: I've never heard of the theory about Voldemort possessing Bertha's unborn child but it made my skin crawl and run shivers down my back😬🤢 To end on a lighter note: "Can McGonagall talk to kittens?" Well Veggie now I have an image in my head of McGonagall inviting Crookshanks over to have a chat over tea and some catnip😂😂😅

We want you to enjoy this! If that means taking longer or doing less at a time, that's fine by us, I promise you. :)

Veggie: *posts a 3h video* Also Veggie: "Guys, I'm so sorry that this is a short one!" 😅 Seriously though: Never feel bad about "missing" a post your health always comes first! And especially never feel bad about covering "to few" chapters; I think just getting a long video instead of a super-long video every once in a while is perfectly fine😂😅

Diego Zenhäusern

Couldn't agree more!!

Diego Zenhäusern

Never feel bad if you can't post! You need to take care of yourself. Your wellbeing (mental and physical) is way more important. I may not be able to speak for everyone, but I know I rather wait longer for you to enjoy doing these then you being overwhelmed or feeling drained.

I don't remember much of my experience my first time reading these books (because I started when I was five, around the time Goblet of Fire was published), so I have no idea what I thought would happen or how I reacted. I guess it didn't traumatize me too badly though! Glad you enjoyed the chapters!

Q

and like Voldemort you chose it :)

Lancashire......tha does not know the sacrilege tha committed with that comment. Four Yorkshiremen is a sketch from at last the 1948 show and was reused later in Monty python it was written by Nearly Headless nick ,Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graham Chapman and Marty Feldman. The death eaters are called that because they were originally called the fluffy bunny gang but the pink bunny outfits weren't having the effect they were going for. This book came out when I was in my early twenties so was expecting what happened neither did I find it scary, had I read it when I was young it would still not have scared me as I had been allowed to watch 18 certified films from 8 onwards.....Lancashire I ask ya.

Simon audsley

Oh my goodness, Rhea!! That is amazing! That definitely feels like destiny! :) Thank you so much for your kind words, and great point about Godrics Hallow! I had completely forgotten about that!

I can't say I remember who I thought the "loyal servant" was when I first read the book, it was around 20 years ago when I was 11 or 12. And since this reveal comes so close to the end of the book, there wouldn't be much time to speculate if you kept reading till the end. One thing I do remember from when I got this book, the first thing I did before reading it was to look up the list of chapter titles (the concept of "avoiding spoilers" wasn't really a thing back then). From what I read, I made two (wildly innacurate) interpretations: - the first chapter being titled "the Riddle house", I assumed it referenced the introduction of a 5th house at Hogwarts, beside Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and the others, it didn't even occur to me that it could refer to an actual house ; - the french word for task (tâche) is almost identical to the word for stain (tache), and with 4 chapter titles mentionning the word "task" I was puzzled why this book was focusing so much on "stains" for some reason.

Alias93

yes, the idea with the baby is creepy BUT JK did describe the ritual you have to do to produce a horcrux and the editor reading it was vomiting readin it. So it was never published and I think this is why it's not specifically sayinghe use the stolen baby s body

Dara Jeeling

I completely forgot that I hadn’t read and made notes for these chapters. Also, I think it’s a good thing you just did 2 chapters in this video because it wraps up the book perfectly, as there are only 4 chapters left.

🥰Oh my heart🥰 Why did you call me Renee?? I actually have an answer to that. It's just the universes way of telling me it's listening… 2 days ago marked 23 years since my mom died. I've mentioned this in comments before but, I'm 99% sure I never actually said her real name. Any guesses on what it was?? Renee Yep. She was Renee Joy and bestowed me Rhea Hart as the “joy of her heart”. Plus we both were born in February. This is proof of one of the small comforts I can offer to anyone dealing with grief and loss. They will always turn up in the most unexpected ways at unexpected times. So, thank you and the universe for making the semi mistake of calling me Renee and reminding me 23 years later a part of her is still very much alive inside me 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I'll be thinking of you and your brother this year having recently lost your mom, as well. She will still be there in some form within you, your brother, and everyone else she loved. Edit: I forgot I wanted to remind you we do see a church and cemetery in Godrics Hallow when Harry and Hermione go in Deathly Hallows Part 1, which was also at Christmas. The book will have a lot more details but you saw what I mentioned in the movie already

Imagine being a parent to a child you supposedly "love." And then being totally okay with killing and torturing other children. Even reading this book as a kid, the thing that always shocked and angered me the most was Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle being in the Death Eater circle.

Ирина Устюгова

Ah balls! How did I not remember I was also a V! XD

VEGGIE GAMER

We also knew part of what happened to Bertha Jorkins from the first chapter, but Harry immediately forgets, and so do most people reading along the first time, I think.

Ashley Evers

google "Graceland cemetery Chicago", and checkout the images. the head stone in the movie is not that odd. do not forger we cannot trust Veggie. in his own word "never trust a V". :)

Garfnob

Sorry Mordimer! The way I said it was confusing! The video will be on Youtube, and I have TEASED it on Twitter! :) So don't worry, you will be able to see it when it is posted! :)

VEGGIE GAMER

What video are you posting on twitter? I don't have any social media so I won't be seeing it, but I'm curious ;)

Mordimer

The love potion stuff is one of the darkest things in the series. It's basically the Imperius curse in a liquid form.

Hawwah

Regarding the question about who is the loyal Death Eater at Hogwarts. When I was reading the book for the first time, I had two main suspects. My first guess was Ludo Bagman. I'm sure that's exactly what JKR wanted :) His main purpose in the book is to be a red herring. (And he's currently AT HOGWARTS for the third task.) My second guess was Rita Skeeter. Before you laugh at me, consider this. We know that Rita somehow eavesdrops on people who are at Hogwarts. That means that she also must be AT HOGWARTS (despite being banned by Dumbledore). Plus I already thought that either Ludo or Rita must have been the person who put Harry's name in the Goblet of fire. So I was already biased and my mind naturally jumped to these two.

Hawwah

Up till know yes this was the darkest. Darkest moment in the series I would say the cursed necklace in Half Blood Prince. Remember the screaming girl in the movie who had it around her neck dragged across the snow? Wayy worse if you read about it. And the backstory of Voldemort as well. All the darkest elements not adapted on screen. The entire book 6 is menacing and angsty if one look past the love potion stuff and Twins toy shop.

Embran

Yay, Merry Xmas! Thanks for the hours of entertainment for tonight!

Katik

Kamilla, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I think you worded it perfectly regarding Lily's love. I hope you are staying safe and your family is doing as well as possible in the circumstances. ❤️

VEGGIE GAMER

Sorry Garry! I remember now!

VEGGIE GAMER

How did Voldemort kill his Father? Maybe you should read the first chapter again 🤔

Garry (Not Jerry)

Who did I think the death eater at hogwarts was? I don’t think I knew. Snape was too obvious. Maybe bagman or karkaroff, but I was prepared to be surprised!

Garry (Not Jerry)

Hi Veggie! Young Tom Riddle (from the diary) talked briefly about his family history at the end of Chamber of secrets. "You think I was going to use my filthy muggle father's name for ever? I, in whose veins runs the blood of Salazar Slytherin himself, through my mother's side? I, keep the name of a foul, common muggle, who abandoned me even before I was born, just because he found out his wife was a witch?" (CoS, ch. 17) Voldemort never lived with his father. He was placed in the muggle orphanage as soon as he was born. I won't say any more because I don't want to run into spoilers.

Hawwah

I didn’t make it in time for the book club, but I guess I can comment it here. My mum sadly passed away from cancer last month, and the past few weeks of grieving her has really made it more clear to me than ever, just how precious a mother’s love is. Even though I’m 26 years old and strictly speaking an adult now, everything feels a bit less safe without my mum here. Nothing can ever replace that feeling of safety for me. It has given me a new perspective on the magic behind Lily's sacrifice, that it’s not only very powerful, but actually quite realistic. To be loved so deeply is a strong protection, whether you live in a magical world or this one ❤️

Kamilla Mari

On first reading I don’t think I ever thought that it was meant to be part of the task. I Got the feeling that something was wrong straight away

Garry (Not Jerry)

Yey! Love Woozle in the thumbnail

Garry (Not Jerry)

I'm glad it was a shorter video for you at the right time 😁

Ashley Evers

Merry early Christmas veggie and woozle! 🎄 watching this will be a great way to end my day ☺️
