Hi guys! Back to Buffy with a special Season 5 extra! Jonathan breaks down the different demon types in the show. I have to admit, I had completely forgotten about many of these guys! XD
Which is your favourite demon we have had in the show so far? Is your favourite still to come?
Also, if you can think of anything else we can do as extras for Buffy, let me know (don't worry, they won't delay season reactions!
I also give me thoughts of Season 5, the show as a whole up to this point, and give a couple of losse predictions for Season 6!
We will be starting Angel tomorrow and then next weekend, we will be diving into Buffyless Buffy. :(

Jonathan (Danny Strong) has had a great career! He was in Mad Men and often pops up on TV shows. He’s also a writer and director and made a movie about the 2000 US election (Bush v Gore) called Recount, about the Florida recount that went to the Supreme Court (I have always adored the tagline: “The future of the country is hanging by a chad”) (they were arguing about “hanging chads” in that election, the “chad” being the small circular bit of paper that you punch out when making a paper ballot….. sorry for the Ted talk and gosh that was a long time ago.) Anyway Danny Strong continues to have a great and interesting indie-type career in Hollywood.

Really excellent books and he's fantastic reading them, really gives it character. If you're considering another audiobook series sometime after finishing Harry Potter I would definitely recommend.

If you do it in 2 separate reactions it'd be okay, but just be prepared for the potential for folks to question why you did it like that. Your channel, your choice though, whatever works best for you. :)

It was, and has always been my absolute favourite Buffy season. Not everyone will agree with that assessment. Season 6 can be divisive for the fans.

Because that's the way it was aired and is the best way to watch the opening to season 6. With Angel I've always found it better to watch it as as it's own contained show, that occasionally bumps into Buffy. Otherwise it always got confusing to me as to which timeline in the series either show was up to in terms of Buffy and Angel.

2024-11-03 04:43:48 +0000 UTCJames Marsters had said that the original plan for Spike was that he was supposed to be killed by Angel after Angel turned evil, and then Angel would take up with Druscilla to make Buffy really miserable. Obviously that's not the storyline they went with, but noone's really 100% certain why it was decided to keep Spike on as a character (besides lots of unconfirmed theories and rumours, as far as I know).

The episode you're thinking of with the other reptile dude is from season 2, and it's called Reptile Boy. There have been other female villains for individual episodes. Marcy, the invisible girl from season one, and Anya in the episode where she's first introduced (The Wish, season 3). Also, Faith would be considered an episodic Big Bad for some eps in season 3, toward the end, and the episodes of season 4 that she's in. Plus, there's Drucilla, though she's always been with Spike or Spike and Angel. There may be more, but the only other one I can think of up to this point is The First Evil from season 3 (the Christmas episode, Amends), though that one isn't strictly female. It shows up as different people Angel killed, some male, some female, but in the end part of the episode, it shows up as female, as Jenny Calendar. But yes, Glory is the first seasonal Big Bad, and what a Big Badass Bad she is. My favorite Big Bad (seasonal, or episodic) is still to come, and I can't wait for that.

There are some that are so fast that you'd be fine because there's no context for what's going on in the scenes, but there are others where it's really obvious what's going on. I didn't watch the whole video yet (it's on Yourube), so I don't know if it has season 7 spoilers. If it doesn't, I'd suggest watching it after you finish season 6. If it does, wait until you finish the series. This was an awesome little extra treat. Thanks, Veggie! Can't wait for you to start season 6!

I think I’m most interested in the stunts video and the ones discussing the storylines for the fifth season (the story of season 5, natural causes and spotlight on Dawn). I looked them up on this website: http://www.phi-phenomenon.org/buffy/opinion/extras5.htm because I couldn’t really remember what was in them that would spoil and the website page itself is not spoilery it just roughly describes the videos and tells you what the spoilers are for. It seems the videos only spoil season 5, apart from the story of season 5 which mentions a plot line from season 6 but I don’t know what that is, probably just avoid to be safe. I’d just say if you want to do more of these, pick what takes your fancy!!

2024-11-02 16:44:38 +0000 UTCI’m sure there are a few more featurettes from the Season 5 DVD extras: Buffy Abroad, Casting Buffy, Action Heroes: The Stunts of Buffy, The Story of Season 5 (this one and the following are more about the narrative, plots and themes from the season I think) Natural Causes, Spotlight on Dawn and the trailer for the video game Chaos Bleeds but I don’t know where you would get access to them. There used to be a great fan made PDF file that laid out each season, with all the episode links and extras attached but it’s closed now sadly, I think!! So I’m really no help, but they are out there. It’s a shame that you lose easy access to behind the scenes stuff with streaming :( also Buffyless Buffy :( don’t make me cry lol
