Disney's Encanto FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Hi guys! I was so surprised when I saw that this came second in the Movie Poll, but I am SO GLAD it did! What a fun and beautiful movie! L

Hi guys! I was so surprised when I saw that this came second in the Movie Poll, but I am SO GLAD it did! What a fun and beautiful movie!

Love every single one of the characters here (and there are a LOT of them XD). I do think I know who my MVP is, but let me know yours in the comments! Also let me know which Disney movie AND song is your favourite!

Naturally, you will need your own copy of the movie to sync too, but I provide timecodes and pop ups to help make that easy! :)

I am afraid we ran into a technical issue in the last 10 - 15 minutes of the movie, where my face cam would free for a few seconds before restoring! Luckily my audio is fine throughout, but apologies for the problem!  We also ran into the same probably on a Buffy episode this week, and today by computer has been refusing to launch until JUST NOW (hence why I am typing this quick). So I think there is something major up with it. I am so sorry about the glitch, and I hope it doesn't take too much away from the reaction!

Love you, guys!! I'll follow up this post with a warning about possible delays regarding other shows until the problem is fixed!

Favorite Disney movie: Peter Pan. I’ve always loved it. The song at the end is called Dos Orugitas which means two little caterpillars in Spanish. This one is probably tied as my favorite song in this movie with Surface Pressure Also, casita means little house in Spanish, which I love because the house is huge!! So glad you liked this movie!!

UP will absolutely wreck you within the first 5 minutes of the film. Be prepared! lol

Favorites always depend on my mood I know as a kid I had an absolute crush on Peter Pan, I would dress up as him (costume bought in Disneyland (Paris)) an run around with it My most rewatched Disney by a Mile i s "Emperor's new Groove", so I'd say that's my favorite Honorable mentions being: Lion King 2, Treasure Plant, Notre Dame, Mulan, Heculese, Fox & Hound (i believe the english title is) and Aristocats Fav. Disney song.....: "Not one of us" & "He Lives in you"(LK2), "Go the Distance" (Herculese), "Color of the Wind" (Pohcahontas), "Stand out" (Goofy Movie), "Everybody wants to be a cat" (Aristocats) PS: I was assuming animated movies only, but if not, obvously Pirates of the Caribbean has to be up there, my fav songs from it: Up is Down and Davy Jones

Byokko

I watched it 4 times by now…as i said, nothing against the music but apart from that…I assume this is just not my movie ☺️🤷🏽‍♀️ and i only tried to make the point that I compared it to orher pixar movies.

Caroline

if that's all you got from it i suggest watching it again, cause geez

Love this one and your reaction was great. Mulan is my fave but Encanto, The Lion King and Finding Nemo are my other faves. Looking forward to more Disney reactions! I feel like Lilo in Lilo and Stitch is autistic, hoping you'll do that one one day. And like Kat said, music is by Lin Manuel MIranda who wrote Hamilton wich is an incredible musical. He also did music for Moana.

I don't want to rant here really don't get me wrong, but I don't understand the hype about this movie. It's decent and cute, but in my opinion miles away from movies like Coco, Up, Zoomania, Frozen, Ratatouille, or Inside Out. These movies had a unique concept, heartbreaking and funny moments, and a multi-layered moral. I love Pixar and I cried so many times (I really had a mental breakdown after Coco for two days 😆😭) And some movies I watched at least six times because I was in awe of the world and ideas that they created. ...but this one? It's just... good graphics and singing. The story and message were very predictable for me and the whole setting was kind of insubstantial. The music is great but that doesn't make up for the overall picture. And the message you should accept yourself as you are and everyone has their strengths is also nothing new. Please watch Coco, Veggie! it is one of the best, if not the best movie Pixar has made in the last few decades. But have a pack of tissues ready 😉💛

Yeah my favorite song is also Luisa's! I just love how it starts with Luisa in her character of the strong and unbendable women just to then suddendly take a left into her spilling her guts out about how all the pressure is really killing her inside. And the imagery near the end of more and more weight being piled upon Luisa's back and Mirabel seeing it happen in shock is just so incredily strong and affecting to me. When I watched the movie for the first time I just wanted to hug her like Mirabel does after the song😭😭!

Diego Zenhäusern

Oh yes, he really needs to watch wreck-it Ralph!

Great reaction, the more i watch this movie the more i like it. And hoo boy, we HAVE to get you yo watch Lilo & Stitch!

Steven

when is the next poll? or are you just planing on going to third place?

Garfnob

I was completely obsessed with this movie when it came out and I forgot how good it is! I think Camilo's power is the best, shapeshifting is just so cool. I loved the reaction and I would also really like to see you react to more Disney things, specifically the animated Hunchback of Notre Dame movie since you mentioned you hadn't seen it in the most recent Buffy episode.

This was the most wonderful surprise, I planned my Saturday evening around watching with you. Never apologize for getting emotional at these things, we're right there with you! This beautiful soundtrack was by the legendary Lin Manuel Miranda - I hope one day you might react to his musical Hamilton which is also on Disney +. Beautiful movie and fantastic reaction, thanks Veggie! PS the Spanish song is called Dos Orogitas (Two caterpillars) and you can find the English translation on youtube.

Abula is the antagonist but not the villain. When we watched I talked to my son all about the psychology and generational trauma. How she was an antagonist but not a villain and all type of symbolism in the move compared to real life and more. That is what it became my favorite movie so quickly

Alexis

I forgot to add! The best power to me is Antonio's, no contest at all. The worst would be Dolores' power; it would drive me mad. It's also really creepy, the idea that someone hears your every whisper, every secret, hears everyone making love in the night, and every baby crying in their homes, and dogs barking all around the village. Oh. My. Gods. (Or as you would say, oh, my giddy goose!) It would be a nightmare.

This is one of my all-time favorite animated films, even though it is quite recent. My favorite song is Luisa's. I know the imagery is distracting, and the first watch is jarring because of that, but if you close your eyes and listen to the lyrics, it's heartbreaking as you realize the *constant* pressure on Luisa. So this is my take on it: Abuela (which means "grandmother" and isn't her actual name) is the original keeper of the miracle, which in my mind I believe to be the very spirit of Pedro himself and his selfless sacrifice to save everyone else. But that was 50 years ago, as we learned during the film, and Abuela must be in her 70s by now. So the house needs a new foundation. A new keeper of the miracle for future generations. It makes sense that it would be Mirabel, as she was able to communicate with La Casita quite deeply, just as Abuela could. With the pressure growing to live up to an impossible standard, the Madrigals were becoming increasingly unhappy, and Abuela no doubt felt this growing tension. It was cracking the foundation, and I think Bruno's vision was showing that Mirabel's choice (to either save her family or leave it) would be the deciding factor. If you didn't watch with subtitles on, and if you want to watch it again on your own, turn on subtitles and you will be able to see all the lyrics. They are *amazing* songs.

for some reason I don't see the polls on here. :( glad this one won though :)

Going for all time favorite disney film. If talking about princess films I am always torn between The Little Mermaid or Pocahontas. I really love both but for different reasons and I always go back and forth on favorite. If going for more modern: Moana or Encanto are my favorites. The animation and story of both are so well done. Favorite song....now that is tough. Depends on my mood really. Onto the movie: I really love this because there really is no villain, it's just a story about generational trauma. I will say though, we know Abuela is the head of the household. She also seems to be the one to run the village. She has no gift herself, just the "keeper" of the gifts. So my theory, Mirabel didn't get a gift because her personality would be similar to Abuela. She cares so much about her family and her village. So she is meant to take over when Abuela becomes to old to continue on her own or dies. Plus if you noticed, Mirabel seems to be the only one able to truly communicate with the house. It's unsure to know if Abuela has that same connection, as it's not really shown, but i'd assume she does. I really love this theory because then there is no argument of who takes over. It's been decided who has the personality to take on that job, rather then who has the better gift and should. So if Mirabel does take over, one day, there could be another child who doesn't receive a gift, and rather then the family thinking it's bad, they will just know that child is to take over for Mirabel. Then so on during all the generations.

Well this is a pleasant surprise to wake up to!

Great video, veggie! So happy you watched this since it’s such a beautiful movie. Don’t apologise for crying, it’s your natural reaction and that’s what we’re here for. I was crying along with you anyway 😅 Coco has a similar family related story so that would be great to watch next (it also has a dog! 😉). I’d love your reactions to the wreck-it Ralph films as you mentioned in the intro you haven’t seen them and I think you’d like them! 😁

Tiegan

Encanto currently my favorite movie

Alexis

Yay, I love this movie😁!Already looking forward to watching your reaction😊.

I'll be sure to watch this weekend! It's one of my favorite animated films. I can't do it now because of the syncing; I have workmen in the house dealing with disaster aftermath (flooding) and would have to keep pausing, which makes syncing a nightmare. Yes, we had a flood. I got luckier that a lot of other people along the river. Glacier melt overwhelmed a valley with a natural dam, and that burst open and did some major damage.
