A great start to Season! Very disorienting being in a new place with new characters, but I was so glad that we got the gang by the end!
A very surprising face shows up... briefly. XD
I really like the set up this episode provides and can't wait to get into the Solid Side Quests as well as the main story!
I also manage to give my (today) favourite Season 3 episode as well as my MVP! So be sure to do the same below!!

2023-11-22 01:11:44 +0000 UTCThe way not only the writing but the directing of this episode really puts the viewer into Buffy’s emotional state is so impressive to me. I think it’s really underrated, but I think that about season 4 as a whole as well.

2023-10-18 18:28:00 +0000 UTCThink Twice is my favourite Celine Dion song too! As for Buffy, I had such a hard time watching this episode for the first time (feeling almost as lost as Buffy herself) but over the years I've grown to absolutely love it.

2023-10-15 09:15:40 +0000 UTCI think this is a good first episode of a season. It lays a nice overview of what's new, and everything isn't perfect for Buffy. My nerdy self loves how excited Willow gets over starting college. Some schools don't let freshmen pick their roommates. I always found it odd that they all live on campus when the school is where they already lived with their families. (I get that it's for the show.) At UCs (what this school is supposed to be), the expensive part of school for in-state students is housing and dining, not necessarily tuition. So, their families are seemingly spending a boatload of money on housing when they don't actually need it.

2023-10-15 00:48:12 +0000 UTCSo far at the start of each season, Buffy feels down and has some kind of identity crisis. In “when she was bad” it was because she died. In “Anne” because she had to sacrifice Angel. Now because she is starting a new phase of her life. By the end of the episode, she reclaim her identity with a new level of confidence.

Zander showing was legit, i wasn't sure how long it'd be until he showed up. was missing the comic relief but he finally showed up. i've only watched a few angel episodes so i guess it'll be cool to see that in sync with this show. 2 episodes a week sounds heavy on you, but i'm super stoked for the chance at a double buffy week :D Hope you had a good Friday the 13th!

I know it doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal, but something about SMG's delivery of it is just so perfect. My favorite episode of season 3 is the two part finale of Graduation Day, and like you, I see them as one in my head, so I have to rank them as one. I totally get your love of the others you mentioned, though. I adore Band Candy. This episode always feels a little weaker to me as a season opener, but it's still awesome, and you made it even more enjoyable. Veggie, you make me laugh so much. Great reaction, as always. Thanks for making my day brighter.

Season 4 I always thought of as the “worst” season. But there are Some really good episodes in it, so I think my opinion has changed on that. Snapping of the umbrella was heartbreaking ❤️🩹

XD I didn't remember this episode and genuinely cheered when Xander showed up, it was so sad up to then! 😢 I think Xander's role, if he still doesn't have one, should definitely be the motivational speaker. 🥰 Or like Bez, a hype man! 🤣 How does Oz recognise it's not Buffy's handwriting, and not her best friend Willow that's spent three years by her side in classes!? Are red vines like strawberry laces?

Buffy has problems when she isn't confident in her life. Celine Dion is "Adult Contemporary" which isn't "cool". While they were sitting in the cemetary at the end of "Choices", Buffy told Angel that she'd be staying in the dorms.

He is credited under a different name (Pedro Balmaceda) which is part of his real full name, but this is him. I got your eyes reference, LOL. That was one of the GoT deaths I was actually a little salty about; I *really* liked Oberyn!

They decided to stay on campus because it's 5 miles out from the town proper, if I recall correctly what was said in passing last season when they were discussing college. The other reason they stated is that they wanted the whole college experience. I also wondered why Willow and Buffy didn't room together, too, but maybe they couldn't when rooms were being assigned? I appreciate that this episode let us see a more vulnerable side to Buffy while also showing Willow thrive in an environment more suited to her academic needs (the "thrusty, spurty" knowlede aside, LOL). As difficult as it is to watch Buffy disoriented, out of place, and overlooked (like Riley calling her "Willow's friend" and remembering Willow's name but not Buffy herself), it allows us to empathize and watch her new journey from its humbling and even scary beginning.

I think she just planned on doing recon but not going in yet.. until she fell in lol. I really like this as a season opener, even if it’s a little depressing, but it’s great at making us feel how Buffy feels and capturing a lonely college experience. I love Xander’s speech to Buffy (mostly lol), it’s really sweet. I now often think to myself, “What would Buffy do?” when I feel scared haha. There’s also a great recent clip of Pedro Pascal being asked on the red carpet about his time on Buffy, he was so excited to talk about it and excited to hear that SMG had posted about his cameo recently!!
