Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald First Time Full Reaction!

Hi guys!  Here is part 2 of my Fantastic Beasts series!  I have to admit... I really enjoyed this one! XD I think I get why some people may not, but will be very interested to hear your opinions in the comments!

HEADPHONE USERS WARNING: - ... I may get a lil excited when a couple of characters show up out of nowhere! ;)

Please note - You will need to normal version of the movie to sync to, NOT the Extended (I couldn't get a hold of it and will cover the scenes in a future video if there is interest)!

Oh, and as a bonus, I take the New York School of Wizardary quiz!  I may do the full extended version in the future, as a couple of the questions I got here were... 'out there'. XD

Love you, guys! Hope you are having a smashing weekend!

Oh, and the next PO Box Mail Unboxing is now recorded! Expect to see that on YT soon!! :)

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald First Time Full Reaction!

I can’t believe they cancelled the fantastic beast movies 😭 ffs

Hi Veggie, great reaction as always! Sorry that I am a bit behind on this, I just didn’t have the time in the last few days. Although I am a little bothered about the «mistakes» with some characters and timelines (as it has already been pointed out) I still really enjoy these movies. What is most important to me is the whole feeling the magical wold gives you and therefore I wasn’t disappointed. You are absolutely right about Dumbledore being (or used to be) in love with Grindelwald. Reading the Deathly Hallows you will learn a great deal about Grindelwald and Dumbledore, a LOT more than in the movies. But it wasn’t until J.K. Rowling confirmed it afterwards that we knew for certain. PS: I am also in Thunderbird. 😊

I honestly love how you mention you don't think Queenie and Jacob would be in this...when their partly a huge plot to this movie. Btw....FFX for the win! Literally loved that game. Queenie. I love her character. When the film first came out so many people felt she was "out of character" in this one but I feel you can't base a character on just 1 film. I'm glad the general conception of her has changed. I mean she would do anything for those she loves. She loves Jacob but given the laws in America she can't technically be with Jacob, and Jacob refuses to marry her. I think anyone would be upset knowing they can't marry someone they love, who loves them back. I don't agree that putting a spell on him and dragging him to London was a smart idea, but she was trying to find a way they could both be happy. Her joining Grindelwald. It's said right from the start he is very persuasive. He told her that basically if she joins him, and they take over, she can marry Jacob. Even though she should have known it was a lie, she believes it in her moments of desperation. She feels this might be her only way to marry Jacob. She feels alone, I mean even her own sister disagreed with her relationship. She doesn't seem to have many friends outside Tina. Not having Tina on her side, Jacob refusing to marry her, it's not hard to think she would go to whatever lengths she felt was necessary. As for why people don't like this film is continuity errors in relation to the main books. Albus teaches Transfiguration, not Defense Against the Dark Arts. McGonagall was born 4 October, 1935. This film takes place in 1927, which means Newt and Leta would have been in school years prior. McGonagall is the name from her muggle father, therefore there is no possible way she can be teaching. I think we could pass the Albus thing as maybe he was covering a class that year but McGonagall is a hard thing to just bypass. Unless we involve time turners again. Which would just be more chaos.

I really like this film, mostly. I haven't rewatched the third one, but I think I found that one alright as well (and I prefer Mads Mikkelsen by far to Johnny Depp, both as humans, actors and as Grindelwald specifically), but this one is actually my favourite Fantastic Beast film. Mostly because I really LOVE everything about the Leta Lestrange part of the story. She's such a great actress. Except Lupin's death (which I found just as sad as you did in your reaction, even though I already knew he was dying from reading the books), the scene where Leta finally tells her sad story is probably the most emotional I've got watching a movie from this universe. The guilt there (and her growing fear throughout the movie that she might have to finally tell people about it) is soooo sad. Such an interesting character. It makes sense that she calls herself a monster. So much of her life is probably explained by that trauma. PS. I'm like you, I've also got a crush on Tina. But maybe I'm more like Newt, as I've got a crush on Leta as well!

I wonder if you could put off watching the third film (secrets of Dumbledore) until you’ve finished reading/listening to Harry Potter. It covers a lot of storylines which are explored more in the later books and I think it might ruin the experience. Of course you have already watched the Harry Potter films but it would be nice if you could keep some of the details to be revealed in the books rather than from fantastic beasts. Of course it might take a while to get through the books so I’d understand if not!!

Loved the reaction Veggie! So glad you're enjoying these films. Personally I adore the first film, but as I know others have said I really wish that Newt's story and Grindelwald's story were told separately... I have no idea why they've been pushed together this way and it does add to the confusion that you noted in this film. I don't think they're awful films or anything, not at all (third one is by far the weakest link for me)... They just tried to do way too much. Still, Grindelwald's speech and showdown with the Aurors at the end is some incredible writing and film-making. Gives me chills every time. (P.S. I'll be upset if Niffler isn't your favourite character from this film! Totally the MVP :D )

I like this movie the most of the 3 that came out so far, mainly because of Johnny Depp, who is great as Grindelwald. No matter what you think about this movie, you must admit that the scene of Grindelwald's escape was epic. But yes, the film has its problems and it isn't compliant with the Harry Potter books at all. There's simply no possibility of Minerva McGonagall teaching at Hogwarts in the 1920s, for example. And the blood pact directly contradicts Deathly Hallows, but I can’t get into it without spoilers. Still, a quite enjoyable movie - you just mustn't think about it too much.

So glad you enjoyed it and went in with an open mind! While I agree with quite a lot of the criticisms, I think people are too quick to throw the series out the window. It didn’t stop me loving the characters and the world. It feels a shame we’ll most likely never have these finished as originally planned ❤️ cannot wait for the next one which I personally preferred to this one!

Yeah Tina is alright, but Lyta, wow, just wow. It was the last third that lost me on first watch, it all felt a bit convoluted. Up to then though, its a solid entry to the Wizarding World. You are right though Veggie about Grindelwald's speech; its a good 'un, laced with elements of the truth. Words are one thing though, but actions are another, and him and his creed are anything but holier than thou.
