Buffy Fridays! Season 1 Episode 7 First Time Reaction!

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lGXXGuCmQGIU5H3A-Yn7CSEBEDiDPnBQ/view?usp=sharing

Hi guys! Back with another Buffy Friday!

We have what I would imagine as the first 'main story' episode and a LOT of sexual tension in this one, 'Angel'!  It was awesome to finally find out more about our Beefy mystery man!  Fascinating to learn some more rules when it comes to the Vampire world!

Love you guys! I get the feeling this is gonna be a popular one! If you agree or not, PLEASE let me know your review and rating out of 10 for it!

Happy Fumigation Day!

Hope you have a super weekend! :)

Buffy Fridays! Season 1 Episode 7 First Time Reaction!

is that not implied by using "i made him" instead if something like "i made him what he is" witch would be more ambiguous could mean a vampire or a monsters killer.

Angel "scar" was not a scar. it was a burn from the cross Buffy was wearing, i believe the take away was meant to be Angel did not pull away from the kiss when he was getting burned. make of that what you will high pain tolerance, that much emotion for Bully, or whatever.

it was literally in the first episode when giles asks her if the boy from the locker will become a vampire and she says they have to suck you , you have to suck them it's a whole big sucking thing, mostly they gonna just kill you

I don't know if you noticed, but when darla said: "I made him" she didn't mean that in a metaphoric way, she meant _literally_. She was the one that bit him and fed him her blood. She is his Sire

Angel v Buffy is pretty much Angels version of Suicide by Cop.

I'm pretty sure there was a quick mention that you need to drink the vampires blood to become one in one of the first few episodes🤔 so I'd definitely agree it isn't a spoiler to clarify this :).

I don't like the adult/minor relationship so don't really like the episodes that are heavily focused on their relationships. This is low in my ratings due to that, and I'd probably give it a 3. It has important information, but I skip it when watching the show on my own.

Hanneli Norrgard

That's what I came here to say, too. :D

Ah, young love. It's not that I don't like Buffy and Angel together, it's just that of all the things the show does so well (humor, metaphor, horror, mystery, family) the Bangel melodrama is probably the least interesting to me. So this ep is only a 7 for me, despite how much awesome lore we get. RIP Darla. Veggie, do whatever you want, but I miss your first-time-watching rankings! :-) I also love how hard you're shipping Xander and Willow.

If you haven't figured out how he got the cross burn, she was wearing the cross as they kissed and it was pressing against him. That's probably why he looked like he was in pain, because he was. Poor Buffy didn't even realize she had hurt him. At least, that's what I think happened.

It's been over 25 years since I first saw this episode and I can still feel my teenage heart beating a mile a minute at the end with Buffy and Angel. I swooned so hard. LOL And because I encountered this series as a teenager, it's very hard to separate what I felt about it then from now. So I will say this was my favourite episode of the first season/series. David Boreanaz was so good back then.

Frederique Gillespie

DEFINITELY looks like he is gonna land on his face! XD

I also just want to say how funny it is when Angel jumps out the window. I laugh every time I can’t help it.

Hello from Alaska! Loved watching this with you, one of the better episodes for the debut season in terms of characterization, explanations, and overall plot. Without giving anything away as to connections between characters, Angel's story, etc., I'll just say that throughout the series, there will be flashbacks that will answer many questions. You're not going to get all the answers or the full stories in a single episode, or even a single season. I don't feel that an explanation of the bite will be a spoiler in any way. In the Buffyverse, a Vampire's bite is a wound, and the more blood that is taken, the weaker the human becomes. A large blood loss can happen very quickly, as you saw when Buffy's mother fainted. Darla didn't take enough to outright kill her, so she was able to recover. The bite is not an infection; the Vampire leaves nothing in the bite to fester, as they don't have bacteria in their saliva. To turn someone into a Vampire, they have to drain them to the point of death and then feed them their *own* blood. The Vampire-to-be expires, their soul departs, and a Demon takes up residence as the blood regenerates and animates the body during the day. Often, the Vampire is buried during this process, but that's not necessary, as we saw when that man from the bus rose up from the morgue table. We generally don't see the Vampire-making process onscreen, so that's why I feel this isn't really a spoiler to explain. I think I got it correct for the most part, not sure if the person has to be drained to the point of death, if it has to be done immediately, or if some time can pass after death before they're fed the blood. Different lore from different sources, as I also play a tabletop RPG called Vampire, so I might be confused there, LOL. Lastly, Julie Benz who plays Darla *also* appears in the unrelated series Dexter. It was such a jolt to see her as a completely different person, even though that is what actors do! It made me realize how good an actress she is.

I meant to comment on the last video but in terms of HD vs SD, its actually a very complicated matter. The remaster was done so badly that there are moments where you see camera crew etc because it essentially just zoomed out or reframed the original footage which left a lot of goofs in. I think most of these were then fixed when you watch it on streaming services now but there are still many issues where the shot is edited so it’s too close and you miss parts of the scene or the original tints for the scene have been changed so the skin is an unnatural colour. For example, there are times when Buffy is in her room at night and it almost looks light outside when it’s meant to be dark. Or even more worryingly, there is a scene I remember distinctly that has a sunset in it and it’s meant to be very symbolic in the scene of something ending (the sun metaphorically setting on something) and the sky is washed out and white with no real sunset. So there are a lot of times where it’s an issue because it takes away a lot of the production choices they made in the original show when editing. I understand you said you’ll change over anyway!! But this comment was just to give you more context. If you are struggling to find SD editions, I’m sure I could link some. There is a Buffy fan who has very famously made a watch guide with all of the SD versions linked into it and tells you which episodes to watch and extras and when to watch them without spoiling!!! It’s very good, it’s called the Buffyverse Archive.
