Matrix "Live" Ep 12 - Sept 29

Comments

there are still E2E errors we are tracking down. antiscam stuff is in dev but usable at https://github.com/matrix-org/antiscam (which is included in the writeup of this week’s video...). Groups is due any day now.

Matrix.org

btw, we are still getting quite a lot of those `** Unable to decrypt: The sender's device has not sent us the keys for this message. **` messages, so the most exciting news was: > Fixed one of the major bugs in E2E messsages getting stuck im really waiting for the group functionality because we are on the verge of migrating our openanx.slack.com team to somewhere else because of the amount of scam we are seeing there. so the other interesting news was: > Antiscam integration for cryptocommunities which btw, i have no idea where to learn more about...

This week the summary text was enough for me too. I'm actually doing a similar (textual) reporting for the https://oax.org/en/ project using Notion: https://www.notion.so/oax/Journals-a1c1a14d8aa84fceb648a33ad8211791 Every week I create a skeleton with the 5 dates as headers and during the week, me and my colleague just keep adding reminder notes (mostly links we read), which then help to summarize the week. So if it helps with time (eg you can get more sleep :), I would also skip the videos or make them more rarely (bi-weekly or monthly)

Thanks all for the feedback :) I think the consensus is for videos, but we'll also provide the bulletpoint summary too!

Imo a written summary like in this patreon post would be enough.

I‘m also watching and I like tge format you‘re doing atm, so please contine!

Maybe viewership has dropped off because you sent out those shirts ;)... jk. It appears that the video format is the same, and the people who are still watching the video's coming out probably aren't the people to ask why other people aren't watching it. Perhaps try a poll on the matrix.org blog revisiting patreon reward idea's?

Usefulness: I really like the video and I think they help a lot to keep the community up to date with stuff that has not landed yet or with information regarding the funding. I watch them every week, it's a nice way to finish the work week.

Also, where are you on the funding crisis part? A few weeks ago, you had around 10% of your goal

Re:Usefulness, I watch them every week and look forward to hear any news that may come out, but I also understand that it takes time out of your schedule and would not be upset if you stopped them. (or if you did not do one on a week when you forgot and went out drinking with an intern (don’t come back to the office, it’s not that important!))

Just wanted respond to the request for feedback on the usefulness of the Friday videos. I personally enjoy watching videos first thing Friday morning while drinking my coffee. But more importantly I like getting the end of week wrap up for the project. Both funding status and what is happening with development efforts. So if the videos are more challenging to do I'd be happy with blog posts as long as they came out in the same time frame. Just my 2 cents worth.

I'm still watching when I have time, but seeing that there's only one view (me?), I could do with just a recap message like in the description of this video 😉
