He recognized how powerful of a mage she was on a hunch, just as she recognized how powerful Flamme was on a hunch...Frieren wasn't averse to going on this journey, the same way that Sein was...so she saw herself in him. Her regret was knowing ahead of time that she should get to know her comrades better but not doing so and then they started dying...Sein regrets not going after his friend, while just assuming his friend is dead but not knowing.
