Manual of the Planes - Pt 1 [Monster Thursday]

More monsters, more better. At least, that's always been my thought... Also, I really want a Manual of the Planes for 5th edition. Maybe I'll just have to make my own... of course, by the time I'm done 6th edition will be out and I'll have to redo all my work! - Stephen

This week we are looking at various monsters that you can find around the planes, from the fish-worms that fly through the skies of Bytopia to the mobs of bacchae who exist in pure revelry. These creatures are largely home in the planes, but sometimes make their way to the Material Plane where the normal inhabitants are horrified by these strange creatures.

Bacchae - The drunken revelers that roam across Arborea, they are a merging of the divine spirit of Dionysus, or some other power of wine and debauchery, and are interested in partying. In fact, we are pretty confident that they are actually frat bros running around and causing a havoc where ever they go. Image of the Bacchae

Beast Lords - These powerful creatures are almost like lesser gods of their specific creatures. Lizard Lord, Hawk Lord, probably even a Goldfish Lord can be found on the Beastlands and we present to you the Cat Lord, which you can easily use as a template for building your own unique beast lord! ... Why didn't we make a Goldfish Lord!? Image of the Beast Lords

Gruel - So, technically these creatures were never given a stat block and they are mentioned only a handful of times in 4e, but I love a good mysterious, creepy fish. Gloamnull is a nice city of horror you can bring your players too, especially if they are genasi and want to meet more of their own kind.

Kodragons - Tiny, house cat dragons with loads of curiosity that will probably get them killed. These little guys can be found flying through the Astral Plane, searching for knowledge, answers, and exciting to meet travelers and act as guides. Image of the Kodragon

Ni'iath - Maybe the most cunning predator on Bytopia, these floating worm-fish-bird-wolf creatures have the power to manipulate gravity and fling travelers off of the spires that connect the two layers of Bytopia. You can imagine the mess they make, but luckily the ni'iath will clean up their mess by scooping up the splattered remains and feast on it. That's probably a little too gross... They are largely found on Bytopia but occasionally make their way into other worlds where those who don't understand them get flung up into the air and the ni'iath gets a bite to eat.
