Witch v1.1 - New Subclass, Hexes, Familiars, and more!

The newest version of the Witch (v1.1) is here! This update includes a variety of new things for you to curse your enemies with or just have fun with some of the RPing.

You can find the Witch on:
Witch v1.1 - GM Binder
Witch v1.1 - PDF Download
and for our $5 patrons, you can find it on the Homebrew Hoard!

The printer-friendly version of the class can be found in the usual places for all our patrons.

Version 1.1

This update includes a lot of new things for our Witch. Our first major new item is the Coven of Graves! This subclass is focused on death and undeath, with connections to the Shadowfell, you can just feel death oozing off of this subclass. Their abilities include becoming undead, creating crawling claws to act as allies, and siphoning the life... undeath? of your claws to help protect your allies.

After that, we also have several new hexes: Hex Bag, Rabbit's Foot, Rotting Wound, and Witch's Hut. Hex Bag and Witch's Hut are great roleplaying opportunities, though I don't want to get in the way of a witch's hut in combat. The Hex Bag allows you to curse people by placing hex bags in bedrooms, throne rooms or more and slowly poison them or curse their dreams. Witch's Hut gives you an animated hut much like Baba Yaga's Hut with the chicken legs, it can also go into battle with you and wreck everyone.

Rotting Wound and Rabbit's Foot are both hexes geared towards combat, though they have different roles. Rotting Wound allows you to fill a creature's wounds with disease, causing them to take damage at the start of every turn. Rabbit's Foot is a boon for your allies, allowing them to run around the battlefield without taking attacks of opportunity.

We also have a new spell, Bone Dance! Have you ever just wanted to reach out and grab someone by the bones and just shake 'em real hard? What about taking a skeleton attacking you, and force them to dance around a bit? This spell can ruin anyone's day, though watch out for constructs and oozes as they have no bones for you to grab.

The last two new items for the Witch I am really excited about it! Variant Familiars and the Becoming a Witch charts are made to give you a bit more exotic of a familiar and to help you better roleplay being a witch.

Variant familiars are all the exotic familiars that have sidebars in the books stating that a DM can allow a character to take the creature as a familiar for the find familiar spell, though a few of them exist outside of that as I just liked the creature too much. From Abyssal Chickens to Cranium Rats to Sea Lions and Tressyms, there are a large variety of familiars a witch could summon, so long as the DM approves.

The last thing is the Becoming a Witch chart that can help figure out how your character became a witch, and why they no longer have a home and are out adventuring. From finding spirits in the forest to walking through graveyards, your witch has always been a bit of an odd duck. These charts help you determine when you found a love for witchcraft, how old you were when pushed out of your community, what event caused you to be pushed out, any witch marks you might have, as well as any allies you have made along the way.

These charts are simply there to provide inspiration and to help a player flesh out their character.

And that's the latest version of the Witch! I hope you are as excited about this class as I am and may your hexes bring ruin to your enemies.
