Remaster: Evergreens Podcast - White Album

And I've done a lot: fixed gain staging, redesigned my system, and even went out and got a turntable upgrade (a 'transcription turntable') to properly present the music I'm featuring. And I've got an album (Tres Hombres) I agreed to do… but I did SO MUCH to improve the Evergreens podcast, that I've begun over. So, now that Evergreens is back, I'm rewinding just a bit. Next will come Rumours (again) and then Tres Hombres. But I think you'll find this is worth it. I'm still using mp3 but maxing it out in VBR to save a bit of space on voice-only parts, while giving everything to the music.

And what music! Now it's not distorted. It's still the tube turntable pre. Still the Grado cartridge, but I had to tie and glue it onto the new tonearm. I no longer need to boost bass at all: the turntable presents it. No more 'needle drops': I have my pre located where I can fade it, and I've reconfigured Reaper to show me ideal metering for this purpose.
So, if you liked this at all the first time, I think it's worth it to revisit these first two 'shakedown cruise' podcasts. The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac deserve the full quality I can give them, and this is what the Evergreens Podcast is meant to be. Next week is the revisit of Rumours, then Tres Hombres. Hope you like it!
