Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to MHA season 7, episode 20!!! OH DANG you guys!!!! I knew we'd check back in with Toga at some point, and wow....she had really given in to her rage hadn't she? I do feel awful for her circumstances growing up, and it's tragic to think that she and Uraraka kept not syncing up on their feelings. But WOW, once again our girl just reaches out and shows that she has the heart of a hero and the ultimate Talk no Jutsu!!!!!!! I think all Toga really wanted was to feel seen, understood, and appreciated. The whole ending sequence was beyond beautiful. And Uraraka had better be ok after that wound!!!!!!! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

I haven't seen the newest ep yet so perfect timing! I couldn't agree more about the acting! I think a lot of folks saw ship potential here, I get it! That's the thing, no matter how you slice it, what happened here was so profound! The imagery was just breathtaking! They did such a good job with this ep. Monstrous Toga was such a great addition too, it went a long way in terms of the symbolism of the moment. I'm so happy you enjoyed it! Thanks as always for all your kindness and support!!!! :)

2024-10-14 14:56:59 +0000 UTCA couple things in this short comment that you well hopefully see before your reaction to the newest episode. The voice acting of Uraraka & Himiko (and the season in general) is some of the best in the show especially the emotions of anger, desperation, sadness, despair & happiness/caring and understanding & I love knowing that Uraraka’s VA was crying after this performance because it shows how much that VA cares about the character & was giving it their all to the performance. This episode & all the stuff with these 2 girls has made me ship Toga/Uraraka even more because of how I saw a lot of this in a romantic light (even got me into Togachako fanfic again while avoiding any stories set after the end of the series to avoid spoilers) but I love how whether you see them platonically or romantically what it truly was all about a poor girl who needed help/to be seen & the caring, empathic girl probably the most empathic character in the show who became her hero just by having a strong enough heart to reach out to someone in need even though it meant getting hurt which was most likely the only way to save someone in Toga’s position. Finally the imagery of the girls as kids is some of if not the most beautiful imagery in the show because of how much you can get out of the images with what it represents for the 2 of them as characters especially monstrous Toga. Awesome reaction & thoughts as always. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

2024-10-10 15:16:28 +0000 UTCI take the chance to add something that I forgot, when we see both baby Toga and baby Ochaco, their main colors are swapped. Ochaco's color is pink and Toga's is yellow, but baby Ochaco is in yellow while baby Toga is in pink. Another addition to the "they're soulmate" kind of thing ^^.

2024-10-10 14:44:39 +0000 UTCYeah for some reason I was thinking they were going up to 22, can't believe we only have one ep! Her VA did so awesome too! That's the thing, like the people around her just couldn't stand her in general, it's so sad! It wasn't even the blood thing at one point. The smile thing is awful! It is pretty degrading to try and "cure" someone that way. It must be weird to have someone be so genuine to you after all that for sure. OMG I totally forgot it's gonna be televised lol. Well I guess the cat's out of the bag there! :P Oh yeah there's lots of similarities aren't there? It's amazing what some love and understanding accomplished here. One more to go!

2024-10-10 14:30:07 +0000 UTCHi Spadeas! :) I totally get why you'd be a mess after watching this! Ohhh you're so right about the chan addition! Deep down she really was a girl reaching out trying to be loved/understood. You're so right about Uraraka, she really does feel like the "heart" and she was the perfect one to reach Toga. She's definitely putting the work in, not just an idealist. I'm so glad this part resonates with you so much!!! I can see how there's a lot of evidence for their ship here! Ooooh there's another scene? I don't know how they're gonna fit this all in one ep! I know Toga's story means so much to so many and it's really well done, I'm so happy the adaptation really hit for you!! Oooh that's awesome, I've heard so much about Undead Unluck and I really wanna check it out one day!!!!!!!

2024-10-10 14:27:48 +0000 UTCSeason 8/final season has been confirmed for next year. Let's goooo. I imagine we'll get a quick turnaround because it's a shorter season. I'm guessing next summer.

2024-10-10 14:27:06 +0000 UTCI can totally see that in retrospect actually! She was reaching out on a lot of occasions. Wow, can't imagine how we're gonna wrap this up in one ep!

2024-10-10 14:22:29 +0000 UTCSlight correction for you: this is the penultimate episode. According to MAL, the next one is the season finale (#21). Is it just me or did Uraraka have like, ninety percent of the dialogue this episode? That’s a lot of work for the voice actress. Obviously the dynamic between the two girls is the focus. When you look at Toga’s flashback from her POV, it’s not too hard to understand how she got to the mentality she did. Not just telling her not to suck blood, but telling her her smile is awful. Granted, it’s… very different, but that’s no reason to tell somebody that. The parents and the counselor are all shadow people, because it seems they always wanted Toga to conform to what they wanted, and didn’t try to understand her at all. “Let’s make you normal,” is a pretty degrading statement. Does anybody actually know what normal IS for a person? Uraraka’s efforts are probably the first that Toga’s actually experienced and she doesn’t know quite how to take it. I think when she stabs her it’s half for self defense and half rejecting the idea that someone could understand her. It’s, I suppose, not that different from when someone you like finally shows interest in you - the common reaction is usually, uh, what do I do now? Side note: Uraraka’s confession that she loves Izuku (spoiler alert, we all knew already), was very likely caught on the cameras. But that’s kind of ironic for her, she’s beaten up, battered, and wounded, yet, she’s leveling up and still trying to reach out. Does this remind you of anyone else she knows…? I’m not sure exactly what caused her quirk to go super seiyan but I’d guess she was emanating strong emotions. As for her physical issues, she said she was starting to feel cold… I’d be surprised if it’s anything fatal though. This anime tends to be more brutal when it comes to that. At the end of the day, Toga just needed somebody to actually try to understand her, and one girl finally figured it out. Sure, there’s gonna be a lot of philosophical differences, but - you have to start somewhere. She made way more progress than that counselor did, because she was trying to tell her the one thing she never heard before: “it’s really okay to be yourself.” One episode left.

2024-10-09 00:54:28 +0000 UTCGod, this episode and the last were some of the best in the series. It had me going basically the whole episode but especially that image of the dark monstrous Toga hunched over baby Uraraka 😭 I’m so worried for what’s seemingly the finale though, we still need to check back on everyone else, on *BAKUGO*, and then there’s whatever’s going on with All Might. How tf are they going to end this season off?!

2024-10-08 23:15:32 +0000 UTCAlso, it's funny in many fanfics where toga is saved , her friends call her himi... Like your hime lol.

2024-10-08 16:49:10 +0000 UTCHimiko toga's story was so subtle my any don't pick up on it , but if you rewatch, there are so many times it's clear she's uncomfortable or asking for help. Even in her first appearance in the training camp arc, she mentions not wanting to be there when more heroes arrive because she doesn't want to die. What does that say? Maybe people did say she deserved to die before. Or during the license exam when she's pretending to be Camie and then imitates ochako. When izuku says he helped her even know she wasn't ochako, because she needed help, toga/Camie asks something like "do you mean that? Would you save anyone?" So when ochako mentions in this episode that toga was sending signals, I think that's true. She was begging to be saved One more episode left. Then on to probably season 8

2024-10-08 16:47:39 +0000 UTCHi Hime :) And there you have it, I had talked about it several times, about a moment that I was apprehensive about seeing adapted, because it had already broken me in the manga, so animated... This is the one. And I might as well tell you, I was a mess after watching it the first time. What comforts me is knowing that Ayane Sakura, Ochaco's VA, finished recording this scene in tears. If even the VA ends in tears, it means that they put 100% of their emotion into it and that's why her performance is so moving. Also a little note, Tsuyu calls Toga "Himiko-chan", it's the first time. Tsuyu has always had only one rule, to be called Tsuyu by her friends, those who aren't must call her Asui, she always refused that Toga calls her Tsuyu and always called her Himiko Toga. Calling her Himiko-chan shows that even Tsuyu wanted to connect to her. I'm just going to quickly come back to Toga, but yes, it's the story of a girl that the world rejected, who ended up hiding who she was, except that it's never a good solution, since it always ends up exploding. The world treated her like a monster, she became one, but was still not herself, the scene where we see her as a sort of monster facing baby Ochaco, is as she sees herself, but since Ochaco continues to hold out her arm to tell her that she can drink her blood, she finally ends up becoming herself again, just a little girl who seeks to be understood. This is where Ochaco comes into play, we've seen her throughout the series, she never stopped doing everything to be the heroine she wanted to become, she said she did it for the money, but that's not what gave her this strength against Bakugo during the festival, which is why her frustration pushed her to learn martial arts, to be able to protect herself, but especially to protect others, because it has always been about others. I feel like an old broken record, but for me Ochaco is the heart of the series, not at the heart since the three boys take the light, but the heart. She is the kindest, most empathetic and selfless person, it has always been about others, how to help civilians, heroes and now, even villains. You might think she's naive to want a world where everyone smiles, but no, she's just a hard-working optimist who wants to achieve her goals. She's seen heroes give up, she's seen a crowd of civilians reject heroes, become selfish because of fear, she knows this world and its dark side, but refuses to be buried by it, she prefers to bring her light to continue to see people smile, and she wants Toga to be part of it. I'll be honest, the whole story between Toga and Ochaco, from their meeting until this moment, is one of my favorite parts of the manga, even if it hurts me to see them tear each other apart like this, but it's still a magnificent adventure. Given the writing of these two, we just want to see them in another universe where they wouldn't have to fight, but would be the best friends in the world, or even more, because Toga is definitely also in love with Ochaco, she says it herself here, and Ochaco saying that she is the cutest in the world is a nice way to show that she accepts her feelings, so my lesbian shipper heart is necessarily in heaven. There's supposedly still a scene with the two of them next week, unless they're even crueler than I think and save it for next season, because yes, we're not at the end of the story yet so two episodes is not enough. But I can already feel everyone's frustration coming at the end of this season, because we'll still be in this arc. I could go on for hours and hours, but I'll end by saying that even if she's not a main character, because Izuku, Bakugo and Shoto continue to be in the spotlight, she's definitely one of my favorite female shonen characters and an excellent example that I hope many authors will follow in the future, thank you Horikoshi for creating this adorable and badass girl. By the way, I already told you about Undead Unluck, Fuuko Izumo, the main protagonist this time, who is my absolute favorite female shonen character, is very similar to Ochaco in many ways. So if you ever want to get into the series one day, here is another character you can fall in love with ^^.
