December News and Announcements

Hello everyone!

I’ll try to keep this short and to the point. The past few months have been interesting for me to say the least. Although some other IRL shenanigans have been going on, the biggest event that threw me off was my dad injuring his back to the point where he couldn’t do anything but lie on a bed without pain. Even sitting down was a no-go. What we first assumed to be a pulled muscle turned out to be something quite a bit more serious. It took quite a long time and a few doctors visits to find out, then more waiting as we were told it would require surgery.

Thankfully, we were finally able to get it scheduled, and he was able to finally get his surgery today. He’s still looking at a few months of recovery time, but everything so far is looking good on that end.

So, yeah. I was quite distracted by the anxiety surrounding the whole situation and still am. I’m very close to my family and love them to bits, so seeing my dad like that was tough. Obviously, that impacted my writing a little.

Unfortunately, this means I haven’t made much progress on Magical Girl Gunslinger. It’s frustrating and depressing considering how much love I have for Mai and the story I want to tell, but sitting down to write it has been very difficult, especially considering I’ve hit something of a block regarding the next few chapters. I know what is going to happen, but putting the scenes on paper is very difficult because they are pivotal to the narration as well as very emotionally charged. I’ve ended up writing and rewriting the next few chapters a few times, but haven’t gotten them to a standard I can accept. I’m hoping to at least push the next Patreon chapter out in a few weeks, but it’s going to depend on IRL circumstances.

That leaves me in a bad situation, because I love you all and the support you’ve shown me. Thus, I’ve decided to pull the nuclear option:

Remedy, my second story I’ve been working on and writing as my side/for-fun/stress-relief project, will be released. In fact, at least 40k words worth of chapters will be available for Patreons at Rare tier or above. The prologue and chapter one will be available to all.

A few things I would like to politely ask about Remedy. First, please give it a chance. I know that it is not MGG as most of you are here for, and Remedy is also a fanfiction. However, Remedy is taking place in a significant alternate universe with many changes from the story it is based on. In fact, I could probably change it and write it as an original story very easily.

So why didn’t I? Remedy was always meant to be a stress-relief endeavor, so I chose a universe I thought had lots of potential with characters I really liked, and wrote an original character of my own into it. Creating everything from scratch would have been more work than fun, whereas “reimagining” the base story and characters was a lot more enjoyable.

Anyway, all I ask is that you give Remedy a chance without taking one look at the source material and judging it. Remedy will be completely accessible for those with no knowledge of its source material. It is also a very psychological and character driven story that I think you’ll really enjoy. It won’t be as action-packed at the start, especially compared to MGG, but when action does happen, it will hopefully be very impactful.

If you don’t enjoy Remedy, no sweat, because MGG isn’t going anywhere.

I’m hoping that by releasing Remedy I’ll be able to have a more consistent release schedule of some content. By having two separate stories ongoing, I think I’m going to have a much easier time as I can switch to working on the opposite one whenever I get stuck. This might mean sometimes MGG gets multiple chapters in a row while Remedy gets none or vice versa, but hopefully things won’t be too uneven.

I think that about wraps everything up. Expect Remedy to be posted sometime very soon this month. I might also be posting the Remedy teasers on Patreon that I’ve already released in Discord, but it depends on a few factors.

Thank you for your support, and happy holidays!
