Aug 2 - Call Me Sometime

This week's session, I had no plan going in. A jazzy piano chord progression turned into downtempo lofi house with some deep house influences. As the idea progressed, I added in a lot familiar AN layers as well as a spoken word vocal sample. It's relatively simple, but I really like how this turned out and I can see myself finishing this one at some point.

What do you think? - Should I finish this one? Is this style cool and does it feel new or different? And do you like the vocal sample? Let me know in the comments!

Download is attached and WIP Archive has been updated.

As always, thank you for your support here. I hope you're enjoying the new EP and expect some polls over the weekend! No stream tomorrow, but I'll see you next week as we get back to the usual schedule!

I respectfully disagree with Stephen, I feel the faint static gives it a LP-style tone. With the mellow nature of this track, the faint static compliments well. I subconsciously tuned it out about halfway through and had to focus on it to hear it. I could see this one being finished but I am not sure it would be worth the effort to finish and then try to get others to license it from AN.

Yeah that's fair - vinyl crackle and hiss is a big part of the "lofi" sound and I'm not sure it works as well in house. If I was to finish, I'd remove it or dial it back a lot. Also, I think my mastering template I use on these demos REALLY brought the hiss up in volume so it's definitely just too loud generally.

I'm not too into the static sound effect throughout most of the song. It makes me thing something is wrong with my headset
