Aug 24 - Coming Up For Air

Before stream this week, a melody popped into my head so while I was prepping, I got a basic version into the project. It's not often that this happens, so I ran with it on stream and I really like how it turned out.

During the session, I focused on getting the basic feel of the song that I was going for and arranging the idea into a few sections. It's missing a lot and it's a bit generic (huzzah 4 chords!), but it has its own spin and uniqueness

My one worry is that this is "too close" to something already out there. "High On Life" by Martin Garrix was mentioned during the stream and I can feel the similarities. That said, chat cross referenced this idea with that song and they all felt it was different enough to stand on its own.

I think this might be my favorite idea from this month. There's a lot of Avicii vibes in it, but I think it still has some of that Approaching Nirvana feel. Unless it's too similar to something, I'll definitely be returning to this. But what do you think? - Is this something you'd like to see me finish?

Download is attached & WIP Archives have been updated! We've got 1 more week for progressive house and I think I'm going to go a bit darker and more intense.

As always, thank you for your support - have a great rest of your week and I'll see you on stream!

Can also see this with lyrics around metaphorical "coming up for air" as in rising above what has put or kept you down and below the "water"

Looking more into this and the Garrix song, they aren't as similar as we once thought. Garrix never does a "4chord" part and the moving chord parts aren't as similar because you go more minor tones and he stays major tones.

Really like it also :)

I like the idea. I would definitely be down for a full song off this idea.

Very nice! I agree that it has an Avicii vibe, but still sounds distinctly Approaching Nirvana, at least to me.

I like it and think you should run with it! -Jenn
