Thank You & Goals Moving Forward

Earlier this year, I passed my original Patreon goal of $1,000/month and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your support.

When I started with Patreon, I had no idea what would happen or if people would even be interested. Your support has given me the confidence to write better music, write more music, and take a some risks. Since January, I have been able to release 2 songs/month and many of those have been free to download. I’ve only been able to do this because of Patreon and it means more music for everyone.

Moving forward, I have been thinking about long term stability as an artist and the part that Patreon could play in it.

YouTube and Spotify have been the lifeblood of my business over the past decade and, while I appreciate that these platforms continue to make my career possible, they each have their challenges. Spotify is where the majority of my music income comes from but it’s highly dependent on playlisting and the release of singles (as opposed to EPs or albums). YouTube is where most people discover my music, but the YouTube algorithm does not support original content and I cannot create music fast enough to compete with the daily uploads from other creators. For those reasons (and more), YouTube doesn’t recommend my content to users that subscribe to my channel.

The more support I receive here on Patreon, the less I have to worry about all of that. I could just create the kind of music I want to and release the music you want to listen to. I’m updating my goal on Patreon to reflect that and it’s something to work towards together.

As we pass certain milestones, I'll be doing more things that people have been asking about for a long time that I haven't been able to do because of cost or business reasons. The first one of those is more vocal songs!

Any level of support that I have received over the years is more than appreciated and if we can eventually hit this goal, I will be ever thankful. Have a great start to your week and I’ll see you soon!

- Andrew
