Feb 9 - First Contact (Dark Synthwave)
Added 2022-02-10 16:16:05 +0000 UTCWelp... I gave chat a choice between Big Room and Synthwave for an intense song this week and they chose for me to try something new. I started out with some drums, then chords/melody, and then some basic sound design & arrangement. After stream I dropped in a few FX layers to round out the idea.
I think this idea is pretty cool! I've never written synthwave before, but I've always wanted to give it a go. For a first attempt, I'm pretty happy with how it came out! I think there needs to be a fair amount of sound design to pull this idea together but I'm interested in returning to it at some point.
What do you think? - Do you like this idea? Is Synthwave something you'd like to see more of?

Man, that classic 16ths saw pluck groove ALWAYS hits hard. Just based on this draft, there's not much that makes it stand apart from other synthwave stuff, but that is honestly totally fine. At this early point in the project, this has the makings of a very solid synthwave track. Definitely hope you see this through to completion!
