January 26 - Kalm (Chill House)
Added 2022-01-27 18:01:03 +0000 UTCFor the last song idea of January, I polled Twitch chat to see what type of song they'd like to write. Chill house was the popular choice and after writing several different ideas, I chose this one to pursue. I worked on drums first this time around and then moved on to chords. Adding some extra layers and a full arrangement towards the end of the stream.
I like this one - it's got a different vibe and emotion than a lot of my most recent stuff. As chat pointed out during stream, it feels like "returning" or "coming home" which I really like. The whole song needs better sound design and FX but I think it's one I will return to at some point.

I think doing drums first was a fantastic idea since it really makes the textures you made with them pop, without sounding like they’re interfering with the chords in any way. Or maybe it just makes me notice them more… in whichever case, I love this piece :D
