June 30 - "Get Through" (DnB)
Added 2021-07-01 16:22:06 +0000 UTCThis week the Twitch subs and Patrons chose DnB to write on stream. I started with the percussion. I built out a foundation for the drums and added some texture with foley samples, loops, & subtle fills. Once the percussion was done, I moved on to chords, bass, and then melody. I threw in a small arrangement towards the end of the stream (intro & build) and that's what what we ended up with here. All in all, this is a pretty promising idea. I think the percussion, bass, and chords are all strong. I like the melody but I'm a little worried it will get too busy by the time I finish all the other elements. Maybe if the melody was vocals and over the drop the vocals played in the background? - not sure.
Either way, I think I'll be revisiting this idea, but what do you think?

A quick note about next month - I'd like to spend it finishing some of the ideas I've written over the last 6 months (there are a lot of them), so I'm hoping we can do some of those sessions on stream and post here some more complete songs/ideas. Expect some polls throughout the month of July to figure out which songs we'll work on.

Love it! I *really* like the drop - have to admit I wasn't expecting it. I think you're right to not let it get too busy - it's a very powerful idea already. I like the contrast between the thoughtful beginning and the energy of the drop.
