Note: This Kings Journal is unlocked for the Werewolf, Wolf and Puppy tier, because it contains artworks.

Saint Nicholas Day - Little Greeny in hell?!
On December 6th it is Saint Nicholas Day. Where I come from Saint Nicholas visits children at home (and Kindergarden) to give a small bag to each child containing nuts, fruits and chocolate. In Kindergarden the bag contains toothpaste, too, because dental hygiene is important. Well, the toothpaste usually has strawberry taste so most children just eat it. ^^;
I ate it each year. xD
When Nicholas visits children at home it is a paid person in a costume. Parents always open the door, when Nicholas arrives, because they give him a sheet of paper that tells the person, if the children behaved good or bad in the past year.
Nicholas hides that sheet in a big book so children can not tell how he knows about their behaviour.
But Nicholas isn't alone. He is accompanied by a demon whose job is taking bad children with him to hell. The demon is kinda the same as Krampus, but depening on the area he has different names and looks in Germany.

I always disliked Nicholas Day, because my parents seemed to have "perception problems". I have two older siblings and they did not behave better or worse than me.
But each year Saint Nicholas praised my siblings for their good behaviour and when he talked to me he was only criticizing. He counted down a list of the bad things I did during the year. After he was done with his grumbling he told Krampus to take me to hell so the actor in the demon costume grabbed one of my legs while I tried to break free.
It sounds kinda horrible and in my memory it was horrible. Well at last Saint Nicholas had mercy and told me to behave better next year.
And then I got the same bag with few presents like my siblings.
Imagine a stranger visits you at home once a year, criticizes you and to get a bag with nuts and fruits you must face a demon and avoid being dragged to hell. What a lovely day for children. xD

I remember one day I came home from school and my mother told me, that Saint Nicholas won't be able to come, because he had a lethal accident at work. He was squashed by a crawler excavator. And my brain thought two things at the same time: That's horrible! - and - hurray, I won't be taken to hell this year.

While growing older I found out that Nicholas was just an actor (and I felt very sorry about his accident) and he got the list from my parents. Thinking about it makes me still angry. Actually my mother did a (very) good job with raising me and my siblings, so I guess that my father wrote the list - each year.  -_-

Well as an adult I left church for several reasons. But in general children should not be convinced to behave good, because they are scared with eternal damnation in the fires of hell for example. Angst (fear) should never be used to take control over people.
I also wonder who Krampus originally was before he was transformed into a demon by Christians.
If I had children Krampus would bring presents as a nice guy. No hell. No criticism.
Just a friendly creature with nuts for daddy. ;3

Humble present
Since it is December 6th I drew some edits of older artworks for you as a humble little, present (and I will use them downscaled to advertize on Twitter).
And since you read the journal until the end - have a look at the folder containing the artworks above in 4k with and without the hats.

Thanks for reading.

PS: Do you know Nicholas Day? Did you behave good or bad? ;) Tell me in the comments.

For me the criticism felt worse than the threat of hell. I don't like unfair treatment. Maybe Krampus was some forest spirit like Cernunnon from Smite. Christian missionaries tried everything to ruin old pagan religions. Christmas traditions are very present in Germany even nowadays. Christmas markets, christmas trees, angels, presents, gingerbread... The traditions are famous and spread across the world. But I think some traditions need an overhaul especially Krampus. Since I left church I could need a sexy, kind monster that brings my presents.

OMG that's so mean! I would also be terrified if someone came to me and did all this, so sorry they did this to you! Specially being the only one criticized. Also totally agree with that point about fear being used to control people, church used to do this alot, and to be real, there are a lot of places that still do that, trying to alienate their followers and making they obey just because they are scared. I'm not really sure, but I've remember reading somewhere that Krampus was the original Saint Nicholas, and I remember reading different versions, some said he became bitter turning into Krampus, but some just said he was the more strict version of Santa. And I agree, to me Krampus would just be a furry version of Santa with nuts for daddy hahahaha! ;3 Thanks for these edits Greeny! Love those pics, specially Gladio x Cor, it's so intimate and amazing!~<3 Here we never followed Christmas traditions to the line, we do festive parts of the house a little bit sometimes, but nothing big. I think I was a good kid, never really gave a problem, specially being an only child just with my mom, I was just the kid that liked video-games a bit too much hahaha. I do imagine if Santa or Krampus could read my mind as a teen or see my computer later on they would think I was very naughty (still am I guess XD), or maybe Krampus would be proud of the naughtyness LOL

To be honest I am not even sure if that tradition still exists, because my childhood memories are 30 years old. xD Back then people were very religious and did not question if scaring children would be good. Actually I would put this on the list of bad behaviour of parents. LOL Right next to that "elf on the shelf". I think the elf is much worse than Saint Nicholas and Krampus. Those two might threaten you with burning in hell, but at least they don't stalk you 24 hours in your home. That would freak me out as a child and I would try to get rid of that elf doll. How can parents believe that would be a good idea. ^^; So if I had to choose, I would take the actor instead of a creepy doll. The best thing would be a sexy Krampus who brings the presents. ^^

That's such a mean thing to do to children! My goodness! I'd heard of Krampus and his various incarnations across Europe, but to pay an actor to come and criticize your children--wow. Not good! It's the first time I've heard of this tradition. In the US there is usually no Krampus or equivalent, but parents do say that Santa Claus is watching all the time, and sometimes to punish children they'll say, "Oh, Santa Claus won't come this year because you're being bad." I'll bet someone has had "Santa Claus" show up to chastise their children--it's probably happened in a few Christmas movies, too, LOOOL! Recently, though, there's been the "Elf on the Shelf". Have you heard about those? Parents put an elf doll somewhere in their house and tell kids, "This elf is watching you and will tell Santa if you've been bad." They secretly move it around the house, too, so the kids will think it's alive. My brother did that with his children, and they were terrified of that elf looking over their shoulder all the time--I think it's a pretty bad idea. Nowhere near as bad as having an actor come to berate them, but the same type of idea for sure! D:< Thanks for much for the kind gift!!!

Daniel
