R.I.P. NerdRage, May you find peace in the afterlife!

Have to admit, you are a little quiet, everything still OK, are you just having availability problems due to Covid

When using platinum for water electrolysis my hydrogen electrode turned black.

IIRC Nitric acid dissolves silver but aqua regia does not so in this case an aqua regia test is not entirely irrelevant. If one's goal is to dissolve the palladium testing aqua regia would be irrelevant because one would just use nitric acid, but if one wants to dissolve an alloy/unknown metal in aqua regia it would be useful to know where the palladium would end up—in solution or in sediment/residue.

I originally bought palladium electrodes a couple of years ago because they were cheaper than platinum, but just a matter of weeks later palladium became more expensive than platinum, so I shelved the palladium electrodes and still ultimately bought a platinum electrode which I still need to use. At least I have palladium for my periodic table collection.
