Imagine Clark Kent grows up in our time with smartphones and webcams. He would have a hard time to hide his super powers.
Maybe he would never use or show them, because he fears to be captured in a laboratory for research.
And maybe he will never move to Metropolis. It could be a new timeline.
On the other he might love to use cams and online stuff.
He could find friends online who make him feel like an "average" country boy. And I can tell myself, that if you grow up in a rural area finding friends can be tough, especially when you are not like those few other kids around you.
I think that perception of Clark could add a new depth to his character that would show that he is vulnerable on the inside and maybe lonely.
You could be his friend! ^^
In this image he is in his late college years or early studies. Although he is seen as a freak and outsider he is not bullied (anymore) - thanks to his height and muscles. He also grew a beard to look more mature and his online friends love it.
