First I set and draw all main colour layers like "skin" and "hair".
Then I create separate layers for the shading process. Mostly one for the darker parts and one for the lighter parts.

Thanks. I do the shading step by step. Most times I finish one character after another. Like: Sams skin, darker skin, highlights - and then I switch to the next part like clothes or hair.
