Been outta town, still cooking tho

If you follow me on Instragram, you probably know I've been on Oahu for the last 5 days. I flew out here to DJ a wedding and it's been amazing. I played an all house set, basically ran through the whole Proppa library, and then played after the wedding for hours and hours.

I spent the whole weekend very disconnected from the outside world.  The phone service on this Island is spotty, and the internet at this villa has been very hit or miss. I think I literally have 50mb or less upload speed here lol. Because of that, I didn't really take many photos or videos. Just enjoying the time with good people and playing some music. When I did have down time away from everyone else, I was sitting by the pool cookin' beats.

That said, I wanted to have something to share from my travels, so I thought these IDs would suffice.

1. LVL Solitude - The weekend really started on Wednesday, the day before I left, with my LVL vs Solitude Edit. I was scrolling through socials that morning, looking for a "viral" song to make a very quick edit/social video for. I came across a video using the Solitude sample, which I've heard a thousand times now, and wondered what it'd sound like if it were flipped into a house tune of some sort. No exaggeration, as I hit the button to download the Solitude sample, my best friend texted me saying "You should make a stutter house song". It seemed too serendipitus to pass up, so I used that inspo to flip the M83 track on its head. I posted the video on Instagram and it had a really good response. One of the comments suggested that I add vocals, and I don't know why but my brain immediatly jumped to A$AP Rocky. I knew LVL would be the perfect song. The drop being shown here is the first thing I made on the plane, through the first 45 minutes of the ride

2. Back N' Forth - I posted the download for "Back N' Forth", which is not shown in this video. Go grab it! But this one is insane. I was feeling tired on the flight after making the 2nd drop of that Solitude edit. It was either go to sleep, or keep working, because I still had over 7 hours of flight ahead of me. While I was thinking, the flight attendant came by with a beverage cart. I asked for 2 cups of coffee, sucked 'em down (eww airplane coffee), and got back to work. At this point, my plane wifi wasn't working. And since my computer fiasco, I still don't have all of my acapellas on my laptop. So naturally, I reached into the Logic Stock library to see if they made any updates. I grabbed this vocal, and wrote the whole song around it in about 4-5 hours. I spent the next hour or two mixing/mastering, landed, drove to the villa, and immediately uploaded it to Soundcloud.

3. Disco Inferno

On the day before the wedding, I wanted to make something that I could play in my set the next day. I sat by the pool and shuffled through potential ideas. After running into a 50 song I realized that not many people have remixed Disco Inferno, which is the most remixable 50 Cent song ever in my opinion. I grabbed the vocal and had the first drop done in an hour or two. Later that night, around 2am after a little too much partying and most people went to bed, I busted out my laptop to make sure I had a 2nd drop, intro, and outro ready. I played it at the wedding and it went off. I definitely plan on finishing it ASAP

Sorry for information overload, I have a long day of travels tomorrow back home, I land in Chicago in the afternoon on Tuesday. Presets and a tutorial coming this week <3
