I think both Kate and Toby have found their place and enjoyment in there jobs. That's why they are both happier. Once they have both found that I don't believe either should expect the other to give that up. Both Toby and Kate have their own issues and make mistakes for sure. Kate had every right to be upset that Toby didn't want to work near his family and never discussed that job offer with her. Just like he demands her to give up everything to move there when he clearly had many months to discuss it with her both of those are things that affect their family. Clearly communication isn't their best skills as a couple. I got the impression that at the end when Kate accepted that promotion. In her mind it was ultimately choosing that their divorce is coming. They are both in 2 different places in life. I get a lot of your points about Kate and Toby. But to be fair Kate has also had 2 children since they met and she has definitely been eating her emotions regarding her mom. That's part of her coping mechanism that she hasn't let go of. Which I find understandable.

2022-03-26 19:30:16 +0000 UTCalso, i wanna add...as a visually impaired person, it's not like it's impossible to acclimate in new environments, but it's very, very sressful. it causes my anxiety to go up and i lost my vision a few years ago in my early 20's. i can only imagine it being that much more difficult for toddlers. she should have told toby about going after a job promotion, it was wrong of her to make that decision without him. but also...toby literally did the same thing by accepting a job offer without telling kate at the end of last season and it was worse because it was in a completely different city. goes back to bad communication. anyway, always love your reactions! sorry for the word vomit, just wanted to bat for kate because she's most definitely not in the wrong. i think both characters have made mistakes, but they also are well-intentioned.

2022-03-26 03:37:49 +0000 UTCi can understand where toby is coming from somewhat, but he's also been pissing me off for the last few seasons. i'm not sure what you mean by him being the one to put more effort into their marriage when he's been pulling away from kate for years now, honestly. and i'm speaking as someone who barely liked kate, but she's been KILLING it this season. she's been more empathetic towards toby and his BS than i would have. between going about with springing that house on kate, never telling her about the LA offer, dodging the topic of pay difference between the two jobs (which makes me believe it's not significant) and then giving her an ultimatum at the end of the episode? whew, chile. couldn't be me.
