Yurapico Smile!

Thanks Yurapico for inspiring me! She made me think about how I need to keep pushing forward. I mean, just look at her.... she's incredibly genki!!!! 

And also, she's the reason I joined the alternative idol world. That show at Otsuka Hearts several years ago was when I first saw Guso Drop, and Yurapico was the girl I stood in front of on the stage. While I was getting destroyed by the raging Gushin who were going apeshit nuts beside me, next to me, and all around me, it was Yurapico who kept her eyes on me and smiled at me and encouraged me to tough it out and watch the chaotic madness that Guso was so adept at providing every single show. By the end of the show, I was completely absorbed, body and 9soul, into the Chika underground. 

Weirdly enough, when I met Yurapico that first day doing some weird thing called a "cheki," I didn't actually do another cheki again for probably another year, I think? I was always too shy to do it, but when the Gushin decided to take me in as one of their own, buy me a Guso Drop belt and all of Guso's cds and dvds, which they did one show at Rokumaikan space in Meguro, Guso's home for their weekly, legendary Monday night performances, I finally had the courage to try to speak horrible Japanese to Yurapico. She was so gracious with me, and weirdly enough, I could understand her Japanese just fine... and she could understand mine too. 

So it began. 

I have to remind myself now that I live here in Tokyo as to one of the reasons I'm here. I love idols. It's given me a kind of new passion, something I didn't see coming. I think the best things in life you never see coming, and that's a good thing. I am not doing well here... financially speaking, but I'm working my ass off to never have to say that complaining statement I just wrote ever again. This poster, which was given to me by an idol fan who knows I love Yurapico and who knew I couldn't go to the Burst Girl show that night when he got it because I was back in LA packing my life up to head to Tokyo at the time... it's a testimony also to the community of idol fans I've also opted into by coming to the land of idols. I love it guys. I really do. And I can't fucking wait to show all of you more of this world. I just hope I can find some path to financial freedom so I can focus 100% of my energy and efforts on becoming as genki as this amazing idol is on this poster.
