2024-11-28 17:12:03 +0000 UTCYes the poems are a hint to what the next episode is a about (and yeah have been so since cour 1, lol) and they are read by one of the characters that will get the most focus and also usually written from their point of view. Most of them are from the original manga volumes since Kubo would always start them with a poem and a lot of them are honestly great, but of course you won't really get them on a first watch. So yeah next week Shunsui :p

I’m sure there’s also a deeper meaning but on the surface mayuri’s bankai is a baby because the thing it’s based on: jizo (meaning womb of the earth) kinda looks like a baby and protects the souls of children and unborn babies who have passed away. I’m sure the caterpillar part of the old bankai is linked to some Japanese spirit too but idk. Yes the poems are a bit like an artsy non spoilery way to do the next episode preview. Even if you see them unless you can decipher their meaning you don’t get spoiled. And for most of them it’s pretty much impossible to tell what they mean they’re that abstract. Most of the poems are ones kubo wrote and put in the volumes themselves. One for every volume. But since there are 52 tybw episodes and not as many tybw manga volumes he wrote some new ones too.
