2022-11-19 06:07:33 +0000 UTCGreat work as i expected Mike. There's a lot of backstory to Mesrine's motivations i think. I think that incident in Algeria traumatised him and made him want to rebel against authority. The Algerians weren't terrorists -- they had been colonised by France and the French were treating them brutally. (The Battle of Algiers is a great film to watch. ) But also you had the 'collaboration' of his father with the Nazis. 'Collaborators' were hated in France. If you had balls you joined the French resistance. I actually saw Mesrine as an alright guy until he put the gun in his wife's mouth. He usually treated people with respect if they treated him with respect e.g. the boss in the model shop and the billionaire before he was fired. He does more crazy stuff in Part Two -- takes criminality into another dimension. And the crazy thing is it's all true.
