Wow, what a movie. I've never seen Hereditary before and just watched it for the first time during your reaction. I've always been curious about it since I saw Midsommar (another movie written/directed by the same guy) so I am glad it won your YouTube poll. Pretty good movie and pretty captivating. You are right about the spooky bass being an audio link that I'll never forget, but fuck that dude if someone just clicks their tongue around me I'm going to flinch from now on LOL. Reminds me of something similar in Midsommar with a sharp breath pattern and The Grudge with the raspy throat noise. They're like catchphrases for horror films lol.

2022-10-25 04:04:24 +0000 UTCReally good movie. A lot of people go into this expecting some typical horror, but it isn’t. It’s really at its heart a study in grief, with genre tropes flung in. I think it’s one of the best contemporary horrors I’ve seen. The mum should have got an Oscar nom. She did amazing. Just one point: Joan wasn’t the ring leader, the grandmother was. The grandmother had been planning this basically her whole life. Joan was just finishing what she started.
