This is a movie that will always stay with you. It is heavy and it hurts and it is a must watch. I have never forgotten it this many years later.

I'm glad you liked this movie. It was impactive when I saw it back twenty years ago and it's actually even more important now as everyone have begun splitting away from each other- family, friends, neighbors, or even co-workers. The director, writer, cinematographer, and actor were incredible. Norton was so different I didn't even recognized him on the first watch. This movie is hard to compare to.
This movie is a direct echo to Malcolm X, one of my favorite 90's movie and, I think, the best film Denziel Washington ever did. Even the horn playing at the end of American History X is a callback to Terence Blanchard, the composer of Spike Lee's Malcolm X. I have seen only a few people react to American History X and yet no one has reacted to Malcolm X. Please add Malcolm X to a later poll since I've never seen anyone react to that on YouTube.
Be well!!
