[Worldbuilding Archive] - Kohr

Hi hi sweeties! Hope the quarantine is going well!

Okay, Kohr is probably the town I've developed the most in [Muraka Project], being one of my favorites places!

I will try to explain it in parts, since there are A LOT of information and I hope I won't do a mess!

Friendly reminder that Seban and Iris (two of the main characters in [MP]) are from this town, the famous town in the mountains, where people always wear really short pants!

Town 🏚

Kohr is a small town, located between mountains. The houses are built on the rocks and caves, and since there is a lot of height difference, the different houses and streets are connected by floating wooden bridges. The interior of the houses have the natural structure of the cave, and only have the essential furniture, made of wood or rock. There are only doors in some rooms, and the street door is never closed (only during the cold months). In the lower altitude areas, there are a lot of woods too.

At night, in the absence of electricity, the houses are illuminated with the help of fireflies.

Flora and Fauna 🌱

The most characteristic animal is the pakas. This huge animal adapts perfectly to the mountain environment as well as the forest. However, they is used to live in human houses, and they are a symbol of protection for each family. They live an average of 120 years. Females are smaller than males, with no horns, but both have a friendly and protective personality, especially with the children of the family to which they belong. The pakas of Seban and Iris family are called Sun (the male) and Moon (the female). The pair of pakas stay together while all the members of the family live. When someone dies, the male goes up to the cemetery to watch over the dead, while the female takes care of the house.

Violaceas is a native plant of the forest. A circle of violaceas was planted around the Dome, for humans to see the limits. The flowers react when there is a dragon nearby.

Roah is a plant that grows in the mountains, the sap of which is used to make a substance that is used for waxing. This product is heated together with the juice of the poba, a citrus that can be found in the forest.

People in Kohr eat a lot of vegetables. The cereal called Tafa has a soft, very sweet and oily shell that is used to make butters. The seed is used to make flat rolls.

Finally, the inhabitants grow a tuber called Kane, with which they cook all kinds of dishes.

Food and meals πŸ₯©

Food in Kohr is seasonal. During the cold months, when the animals they hunt take refuge in the forest, beyond the limits of the Dome (which humans cannot pass), families feed on cereals, fruits and derivatives. During this time the fresh meat is usually from reptiles. They prepare some delicious lizard and tafa rissoles. In the warm months, they can go hunting and feed on wild boar. The breakfasts are made up of poba juice with grated grated tafa for sweeting, and buns with butter.

Meals are always chopped and served in pieces, and they use two eating utensils. A spoon and a kind of fork with which you can prick and take food. On special days, the way to celebrate is by cooking the whole family together. There are no special dishes or large quantities during the celebrations.

Celebrations 🎈

There are two special celebrations. The start of the hunting season, when the animals return to the mountains in the warm months and the moonlights, the nights when couples who want to have children are allowed to conceive.

Birthdays are celebrated as a family by going to the highest peak of the mountain and spending the day together.

Weapons 🧨

Kohr is a hunting town, but very they are very peaceful. Their weapons are usually swords, spears, and small daggers that are thrown from a distance. They use them to train.

To hunt, and to prevent animals from suffering, they smear darts in a poison called Hora that ends the lives of animals quickly and without suffering.

These darts have colored markings to know which hunter killed the creature, and then make the deals better during barter.

In addition, the poison pot has a mark as far as the dart should be impregnated, which sticks completely into the animal's meat.

Family and Relationships πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

The family is the most important thing in this town. In the past, the strongest warriors, at the age of 20, had to participate in a multi-day race in the mountains. The person who reached the goal earlier became the strongest warrior in town,(male or female) the one who had the right to have the largest family. Courtship was done through friendly fights (both genders). Training with your partner is a common practice among the inhabitants, always on equal terms.

In order for women to bring strong and healthy children to the world, she had to be fit, so training and exercise were essential.

There is no concept of marriage in Kohr, but stability is what everyone aspires to. The symbol of union between two people is the decision to have a child and start a family. In addition, in Kohr there is no taboo with sexual behaviors, but it must be respected that the reproductive act should only be done with the partner with whom there is a very strong affective bond. Other practices are always well seen.

Beliefs β™₯

Kohr people believe in energy and nature. They think that when a person dies, their energy joins that of the world. Therefore the dead are buried in the rocks of the mountains, to facilitate this process. On the other hand, there is the importance of strength, the concept of family and the pakas as a sacred animal. When a child is born, the first sip of milk is from the female paka of the family. It is believed that this will grow healthy and strong. Paka milk is a sacred product that is only taken at birth, and therefore dairy products are not consumed in Kohr.

Clothes πŸŽ€

Leg health and strength used to be a symbol of power in Kohr, which defined the strongest warriors. For this reason, and to demonstrate it, everyone left their legs bare. Today this has been maintained, even in the cold months.

Children dress up to the age of 15 all the same (same colors and style of clothing) so that everyone is educated in equity. When they become adults, they have the right to show their tastes and identities through the clothes they choose to wear.

Changes after the Dome

When the Dome was raised, the inhabitants lost a lot of freedom. The city could not be extended, so birth controls were necessary. Currently, and following tradition, all families should have only one child, except the strongest couple, who can have up to two (Gerard and Shela's case). In addition, it is only allowed to conceive every three years and on defined dates.

Another impact was food shortages during the winter. The limits of the Dome prevented hunters from hunting during the cold months.

This is all the information, I think! Wow! Maybe too much, but I really hope you like it! Thank you so much for reading! Love you!
