Family History Preview Update

Added a ton of new features to the Family History mod pre-release. I've added it to the preview page, but here's a recap of the new features:

Balance

Research progress balanced out better. The more traits you discover, the harder it will be to find more of them. This makes it even more similar to the research features in the Scientist career.

More discovery interactions

You can travel to the police station and hospital under you sim''s Family History menu, and Research Birth Certificates at the hospital and Research Legal Documents on any computer at the police station.

Ancestral Region Features

I added some features to made Ancestral regions slightly more relevant.

You'll get happy buffs for traveling to ancestral regions, and there are social interactions that two sims with the same ancestral region can use, including:

• Talk About (region name) Sports
• Talk About (region name) Politics
• Talk About (region name) History

Also recipes.

Ancestral Recipes

There are now ancestral recipes for each region that can be discovered while rummaging through memorabilia. They can also be taught and learned from other sims.

Eating an ancestral recipe from one of your ancestral regions gives you a happy buff. It also earns ancestral favor.

Bars in each region will offer their ancestral recipes via the Order Food menu item. They can also be added to restaurant menus.

Clubs

You can now use Ancestral Region traits as a club membership rule.

Holiday Goals Added

Three new holiday goals available

• Eat Ancestral Food
• Honor Ancestors
• Tell Family Stories

Ancestral Favor

High ancestral favor speeds up research progress.

An icon appears over your sims's head when they earn ancestral favor (so that you know it's happening)

Added more ways to earn ancestral favor, including acting in accordance with your notable ancestors careers, etc (painting makes painter ancestors happy, etc). You can leave offerings to ancestors at any campfire, bonfire, or fishing spot for additional ancestral favor.  

I also cloned the Mountain Shrine (but forgot to rename it, doh), and set it up to accept offerings to ancestors as well. You can put that in your cemeteries, etc.

A personal note

We suffered some family tragedies over the holiday season, which is why I was incommunicado during December. Everything isn't quite settled down yet, but I'm hoping to avoid any further long-term silences.
