Better Bars & Liquor Stores, Prerelease
Added 2023-09-04 02:21:55 +0000 UTC
If you've been following along at home, you might be aware that I'd added nectar making for the Dine Out nectars to this mod a few months before the Horse Ranch pack added Nectar Making to the game itself. But they didn't add the Dine Out nectars.
It was easy enough to add recipes for this mod's nectar flavors to the game's NectarMaker, but unfortunately, the nectar from this mod and the nectar in the game were somewhat different in terms of servings per bottle and in the details of aging. Plus the bottle itself.
After some thought and experimentation, I arrived at this solution. If you have existing nectar bottles from previous versions, they will remain as is. That code is still in the mod. However, new nectar bottles will all be created to be compatible with the Horse Ranch nectar bottles.

That means 4 servings per bottle instead of 6, and it only takes 3 grapes to make a bottle instead of 6. Also, the Casks that you can create using the Simsco Canning Factory now hold 4 bottles, and require 12 grapes to make, instead of 30.
I also removed the ability to make nectar with the Fizzing machine. I didn't like how it worked, it was hard-wired to require 5 fruit, and the only reason I added that was because I wanted a way to make a single bottle at a time. Since this mod now requires the Horse Ranch pack, because it's using the bottle object from it, the NectarMaker should always be available.
Aging has been changed to use the Horse Ranch pack's methods. Casks also age using this method, and are considered permanently 'racked', since they're in a cask (aging goes faster).
Also, I set the growing seasons for the light nectar grapes (Green Grapes, Cranerlet Nuala, Cherimola Blan) to be both Summer and Fall, since I hate to have my vineyard fallow 3/4 of the year. Red nectar grapes (Grape, Meloire, Renoit, Avornalino) remain as Fall-only crops.
But Nectar wasn't even going to be the main feature of this mod, lol, so here's a recap of what is in here.
Bar Additions

First, I added some features to Bars. It adds all the Juice Fizzes and Seltzers to the Order Drink menu in commercial venues, as well as coffee and tea. NPCs will order these drinks as well, so you will see them drinking bottles, cans, etc.
I also added some Whole Pizzas, so you can order and share a pizza at a bar, as well as some other bar-type food. Plus a Carry-Out menu for "package sales" of fizzes, seltzers and pizzas. Note that prices from the bar Carry-Out menu are a bit
more expensive than usual, since that's usually how that works.
Retail Additions

You can't normally put Juice Fizzes or Seltzers in the Retail Fridge (they're missing the RETAIL_FRIDGE inventory type). So, I'm injecting the RETAIL_FRIDGE inventory type to all the Juice Fizz and Seltzer multi-pack tunings so that you can.
To make it easier to sell fizzes as a retailer without having to be a full-time crafter/farmer, I inject a menu to the Retail Fridge to Restock it with Juice Fizzes and Seltzers (from a wholesaler...you know). If you own the store it's in, you pay the same as a restocking fee (80% list - perks modifiers).
And my favorite feature, if an NPC owns the retail store, you can visit the store and restock the retail fridge for free! You still need to purchase them from the retail fridge as usual to get at them (at retail prices), but at least you can get something to buy without having to play a retailer just to set the store up.
New Grapes for Dine Out Nectars

You can make all of the six types of nectar already found in the game:
- House Red Nectar
- House White Nectar
- Von Haunt Estate Meloire
- Soft Shadow Avornalino
- Riverblossum Cranerlet Nuala
- Monte Vista Reserve Renoit
- Granite Falls Grappo Blanco
Each type of nectar comes from a particular strain of grape:
- Grape
- Green Grape
- Meloire Grape
- Avornalino Grape
- Renoit Grape
- Cherimola Blan
Seeds for the grapes are available randomly in the Starter Fruit Seed Pack.
Bulk Manufacturing

You can create bulk recipes using the Simsco Canning Factory, including
Kegs of Juice Fizz (Canning Factory recipes): requires 30 fruit, needs refrigeration, can be bottled to produce 6 6-packs of the corresponding Juice Fizz type. Can be sold to bars and restaurants at a higher price using my Food & Beverage Supplier mod.
Nectar Casks (Canning Factory recipes): requires 12 grapes of corresponding type, does not need refrigeration, gets more valuable with age. Can be opened to produce 4 bottles of wine. Can be sold to bars and restaurants at a higher price using my Food & Beverage Supplier mod.
Themed Bars

I've added some lot traits to create different sorts of patrons in different bars (and lounges, etc). It just causes more of the bar patrons to be a certain type. I think I put these under the lot challenges so that they didn't use up a primary lot trait slot.
Cop Bar
The bar gets full of cops, after work. I might create a version specifically for cafes...
Criminal Bar
The bar is frequented by sims in the Criminal career
Art Bar
This is a fun one. It attracts patrons that drink and paint. And drink. There was a Paint Bar around the corner from where I live before the pandemic, and it seemed to be a lot of fun (they sold supplies, etc). Anyway, now you can have one, just remember to place some easels around.
Sports Bar
This is basically a Bro bar. Make sure there are plenty of televisions.

There are a few more small changes I want to implement before I release this, including a few that some of you have suggested. But this probably has enough features. It probably has too many features, lol. This entire mod started because I'd just wanted to be able to order more interesting stuff from bars while I was testing the Freelance Entertainer mod, but here we are. :D
If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know!
