Simsco Canning Factory Mod
Added 2022-04-02 19:17:19 +0000 UTC
The Simsco Canning Factory can be loaded with produce and dairy ingredients, then used to convert them into boxes of canned and processed products, such as boxes of jars of jam, canned vegetables, wheels of cheese and more. It looks like the Cupcake Factory, but is industrial safety yellow.
The Canning Factory pulls all of its ingredient requirements from its own inventory, not your sim's, so you need to load it first. This is meant to allow you to better decide what portion of that huge haul of apples goes toward fruit, which part toward Jam, and which part gets saved for brewing into a 'fizzy' or some other use.
You need to put the ingredients into the machine before you can make the recipes with the machine. You can Open the inventory like a refrigerator and drag things into it, you can drag and drop items onto the machine, or you can use the Load ingredients option with a dialog.

Select Bulk Food Processing, and choose one of the recipes for which you have ingredients. The machine will chug and flash and belch smoke in a remarkably steampunk way, and your box of processed food will come rolling down the conveyor belt. Your sim will wait until it is done then pick up the box and look for a surface or a shelf to place it on.

You need to clean the machine about every 6 uses. This is the same as the Cupcake Factory for now.

MREs: A box of vacuum-packed food with a built-in self-heating element. You can open it up, and you get a plate of hot food in your inventory (same recipe lists as the Delicioso spell from Realm of Magic).
Sugar: The factory can convert 6 fruit into a large, commercial-sized sack of sugar, which can be opened to get 6 small bags of sugar that can be used in recipes.
Flour: The factory can convert 6 Potatoes, Soybeans, Black Beans or Taro Root into a large, commercial-sized sack of flour, which can be opened to get 6 small bags of flour that can be used in recipes.
Canned vegetables and Dried Spices: You can use the canned ingredient directly in recipes (at least that's the goal...), or you can Open it Up and get actual ingredient back to use.
Canned Fishcake: A mixed, processed fish cake in the shape of a fish. It can be used in any recipe that calls for 'any fish', such as Fish Tacos, or even Fish on a Stick.
Crates of Milk: The factory can create a number of different types of crates of milk that can be opened to get 6 bottles. 6 Bottles of Cow milk can also be repackaged for convenience into a crate of cow milk. The crates need to be refrigerated to keep the milk fresh.
Cartons of Eggs: Regular eggs can be repackaged into a carton of 6 eggs. The cartons need to be refrigerated to keep the eggs fresh.
Loaves of Bread: The bread is delivered in bags which can keep it fresh indefinitely until opened.
Suggestion: This mod works great when used with the Food & Beverage Supplier License Mod, since you can get a larger bonus on product sales!

is there a way, addon possible or a tweak I could do to link it with fridge like the wine-maker. i understand it was made with a separate storage on purpose, I'm just playing for a collective farm household, and the entire (well, almost) gameplay is based on your mods, and it's cumbersome to think (that's it, period) where to put this or that batch of produce.

2025-09-13 13:56:08 +0000 UTCI double checked the tuning, and it looks like it should. I can test it in the game tomorrow. Did it not yield the right thing, or nothing at all?

2025-09-12 03:04:44 +0000 UTCHi! This mod is extreme fun, thank you! I can't stop lol. Could you please check though if a can of peas or beans supposed to have one item (1 pea or 1 bean) when opened?

2025-09-11 21:19:52 +0000 UTCI will check that out. The bread recipes were working the last time I played it (which ironically enough was a bakery), but that was at least a patch ago. Thanks for the feedback!

2025-09-03 01:35:38 +0000 UTCWould be so kind as to check that bread making is referencing everything it needs to reference, please? I made sugar and flour at the factory, opened them to make them look like (and read like) normal Cottage Living stuff, came up again to the factory with other necessary ingredients, but the factory didn't see sugar and flour. PS: I love the CCs <3

2025-09-02 15:23:49 +0000 UTCThat's a great idea! If you can think of any other in-game herbs that are both plants and also cooking ingredients, let me know. Though I suppose, there's no reason I could make recipes for all of the Herbalism herbs, not just food recipe ingredients. Okay -- writing that just gave me an idea. I suppose that in addition to dried herbs from the Herbalism skill, I could add some recipes to make bottles of herbalism potions as teas. Kind of like the Kombucha fizzies, but for each of the Herbalism potions (with the potion effects). So there are plans to add those as of now, lol. I'll put it on my enormous ToDo list. :) Thanks for the idea!

2025-02-16 22:51:11 +0000 UTCI'm really enjoying this mod - it's much simpler than other canning mods. Are there plans to add dried versions of the other herbs like basil/parsley/chamomile?

2025-02-16 19:04:33 +0000 UTCI'll take a look at it -- I may have required the wrong ingredients in that recipe. Thanks for the feedback!

2024-03-23 21:33:19 +0000 UTCI'm so in love with this mod ever since I found it. I was searching high and low for a bulk canning mod and this goes above and beyond in so many ways! I just wanted to let you know about a small issue I found though. When I go to make strawberry plant milk I put both the 6 strawberries and six mighty plant milks into process but there's only the option to make the strawberry plant milk one by one. I'm currently running the 1.2.3 version of the mod. This is a screenshot of what the menu looks like t.ly/V28ZP

2024-03-23 06:15:03 +0000 UTCme encanta la idea de recetas con las bayas de estado de ánimo y también se me ocurre que podrías hacer una receta como envasado a granel con flores o cosas de perfumería..por pedir que no quede

2022-06-08 16:32:32 +0000 UTCHi Gojira-Force, to be honest, I haven't looked at SCCO either way. I don't expect the canning factory would be incompatible with it, unless SCCO overrides or patches something the factory needs. Are you noticing any problems with both mods installed? As far as integration with SCCO goes, I'd be happy to add features for that, if they seem to make sense...and are possible. :) There are a lot of custom recipes available with SCCO. I need to come up with my own custom recipe (and a few custom objects) for each item in order to be compatible with the Canning Factory, but I from what I've gathered so far (though their website is still unavailable), there are more processed food type items available via SCCO. I saw chips and TV dinners, which would both be cool to make with the machine. I also noticed canned snails -- would also make sense for the machine to make. I will need to come up with a way to handle the recipes in such as way that it does't depend on SCCO to operate (I think there's a python injection I can use to do it). Otherwise, how would you like the Canning Factory to work with SCCO aside from being able to make the SCCO recipes with it? Let me know what you'd like to see, and I'll see if I can make it do that. :)

2022-04-07 10:51:26 +0000 UTCOut of curiosity, did you by chance include the old file with the latest update, or is this mod incompatible with SCCO?
