Personally,, I think serial stories that provide an interesting setup and are never seen again cause more frustration than enjoyment in the medium-to-long run. I'd at least like to know which ones they are; perhaps some sort of identifier in the intro? (Admittedly, I guess it shouldn't be that difficult to wait on reading them until you've posted, say, four chapters.) And ideas that aren't going anywhere don't really appeal to me, except perhaps as contests or challenges on BC.
