This has been on BC for several years. :) We're slowly turning a lot of what Melanie has produced into books. Other people have done similar stories; I read one back in the 60s. The trick is making the idea your own and go your own way with it.

Since one of the three is female, I guess Vinnie will have to be in drag. :) He's the one who could pull off a female voice.
