I am the same age as RDM (give or take a year) and have never heard of Major Matt Mason in my life. I did a google search and there are TONS of toys in that particular toy line. None of the pictures jogged my memory at all. I wonder if it was a regional thing? IDK. For me and my friends it was about G.I. Joe. Full size not the silly little dinky version. Sad that the benefits changed when DS 9 started and I no longer have access the lost episode. Really enjoyed it while it lasted.

2025-01-06 21:38:39 +0000 UTCIn Switzerland, when I grew up it was baby Jesus bringing us presents on the 24th in the evening - not Santa. The big dinner is still on the 24th (not 25th) and the focus in general is more around the evening of the 24th. Also, we have Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas) bringing us some smaller presents (mainly chocolates, mandarins and nuts) on the 6th of December which is the day of Saint Nicholas. I have friends in Spain and they get their presents on the 6th of January - which is 3 kings day or 3 wise men day. The presents come from the 3 guys. They are the ones that brought presents to Jesus, which overall I guess makes the most sense!

2025-01-03 12:38:23 +0000 UTCThank you for sharing your stories of Christmas traditions. The big tradition for me was the music. We all loved to sing and play Christmas carols. I still sing and am in an acoustic group that has an amazing Christmas show. So music was very important, and the Yorkshire pudding (yummy). Happy Holidays.

2024-12-30 17:09:20 +0000 UTCMy grandpa was born on Christmas Eve. Every year on his birthday he would stand on his head, just to prove he could. The year he broke his shoulder in a car accident, we "kids" took over the tradition. After his passing, we called it the JD Hollis Memorial Headstand. We did it every year as long as our family had its big Christmas Eve gathering.

2024-12-28 22:11:18 +0000 UTC“I’m from Iowa, Iowa! Home of all the land, Joy in every hand! I’m from Iowa, Iowa! That’s where the tall corn grows!” And also +110 Fin the cornfields in summer, -15 F in winter. Snow every winter. Now living Maryland (on the Bay — so rare snow) and Alabama. Christmas without snow is hard for me. Live tree every year. Still.

2024-12-27 17:19:26 +0000 UTCMy holiday memory growing up in non snow areas was in Hawaii. My dad was stationed there. When we came to the states and discovered Poinsettias were a plant people paid money for them. They were weed like in Hawaii. It was amazing. LOL!!!
