I caught that too. Whole different kind of movie ๐Ÿ˜œ

For the Raktajino record: after winning the first two replicator rations in Voyager's Meld, when Harry and Tom walk out of the holodeck Paris mentions considering ordering one ; - )

Richard Knijnenburg

Pirates of Penzance had me giggling

Andrew Kyle

Yea, he literally says "van zandt" at 1:31:00 - curious why they didnt seem to know him seeing as he played a vital role in the Sopranos (which i always assume everyone has seen lol)

Niklas P

This off topic, but Robbie mentioned a musician that wore a scarf on his head. He had the first name correct, Steve. Could he have been thinking of Steven Van Zandt? Also known as Little Steven or Miami Steve, is an American musician and actor. He is a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, in which he plays guitar and mandolin. He has appeared in several television drama series, including as Silvio Dante in The Sopranos (1999โ€“2007). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Van_Zandt#/media/File:Little_Steven_Van_Zandt_and_Bruce_Springsteen.jpg

On a different note, nothing to do with the DS9 ep, Bonfire Night (as itโ€™s more commonly known in the UK, rather than Guy Fawkes Day) isnโ€™t as holiday as such (we donโ€™t get time off work or anything), we just like to celebrate someone trying to blow up our Parliament by having bonfires and fireworks! Guy Fawkes was also known as Guido Fawkes when he was working with the Spanish on a planned invasion of England.

Vikki Williams

They did mention bathrooms on one episode on voyager when Neelix told Janeway there was only one working toilet and something about bolians

Dawn Smith

Armin is such a delight!!

FG (Kira's High Waisted Uniform Enthusiast)

I want to see Alexander Siddig on the show since Robbie is such a fan. I love how funny the episodes are, but Robbie fangirling over Siddig would be hilarious

Chris Ginac

While I'm with everyone else and think this episode is pretty average, this week's podcast episode was an absolute riot, we laughed so much! Can't wait to see your reactions to Move Along Home (which I personally love hahaha) and hear more renditions of the song.

Ria

Steven Van Zandt "Little Steven" is who you're thinking of Robbie.

MG

Tbh, this is one of the most boring eps ever made imo But thats also jMo

Tashicat

Two things that stuck out 1] My dad watched a bts on Pirates of the Caribbean at one pt and Depp said that to prepare for Jack Sparrow , he studied Keith Richards so *Maybe* that's who/what Robbie was thinking of (bandannas etc)... 2] My fav Odo/Primmin scene is where Odo says "ohhh, is that a Starfleet Rule? Im not in Starfleet!" Ngl, was kinda suprised that moment passed unremarked upon... I like that moment more than Him & Quark discussing wanting things which yall seemed to favor

Tashicat

So glad its not just me frfr

Tashicat

I think it's great!

Jen V

I love that Terri and Armin watch episodes where they donโ€™t record the main episode.

Ben

Am I right in thinking she play N'toth in B5?

Humaira

I absolutely love the silliness. What a great show. Roy Rogers, Bashantica et al... I can't wait for more puns! Please keep the fun coming

Humaira

Good episode and fun discussion. Also Robbie had it right: Steven Van Zandt from Springsteenโ€™s band and the Sopranos.

peter

Great discussion! I was surprised by the fans rating it 5.7 but in a way, I think it makes sense. I don't think it's a bad episode, in fact, I think most people actually think it's a pretty good first season episode. But we the audience are watching these a second, third, or maybe even fourth or more time. And we know how good this series gets. The heights it reaches. So yeah, compared to most of season 3 forward, it's just a nice, solid show. It's good but just average for DS9. Anyway, again, thanks for the fantastic discussion and insights. Loved the extended live reacts.

Raktagino is Klingon coffee!

I've had that "Move along home, little doggy" song stuck in my head for the past 2 days. Thanks, guys.

Seems strange that they would have two similar "dead but not dead alien" shows within 5 episodes of each other - this one and episode 3 "A Man Alone". I have seen most episodes of DS9 at least 5 or more times and I do not remember Dr. Bashir being such an arrogant D-bag. Thank goodness this trait goes away later into the run of the show. Wow, it seems like we are watching almost the entire show in the rewatch clips. This segment is lasting a VERY long time as compared to previous podcasts. Star Fleet security LT comes off as a pushy interloper. As a former Army MP having to interface with other types of Law Enforcement, his approach to a joint operation is very poor indeed. He should have notified Odo before hand of this impending arrival and scheduled an office call with him upon his arrival. It is never good to surprise someone with a step on the toes. Remember that the toes you step on today may be connected to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow. On two different occasions Odo states that he is watching Quark yet fails to notice anything Quark is doing to hijack the shipment. In previous episodes, Odo is all over Quark, but here does not see anything going on his claims of watching to the contrary. At 28 mins even in the Infirmary, Quark states that he "resents the inference" of him trying to hijack the shipment. This is improper English. The correct way is "I resent the implication". I imply something and then you then infer it from my statement. Hi-Larious, RDM just said Johnny Dep in Pirates of the Penzance instead of Pirates of the Caribbean. Why am I not surprised that the actors ignored the hard work of the writers and script dept and just did their own thing with pronunciation with no regard for anyone else's guidance or work. I seem to recall that there is a direct entrance to the 2nd level of Quarks, therefore someone would not have to sneak past anyone on the first floor.

Robbie mixing up Duridium and Deuterium ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Stephanie Davies

I cannot wait to watch their reactions to Move Along Home!!

Vicky Thompson

This podcast episode was hilarious ๐Ÿ˜‚! Seems like Armin is getting much more comfortable. Great to see all 3 of you guys together!

Jen V

Julie Caitlin Brown did have another Trek role, but it wasn't on DS9. She played the character Vekor in the TNG Season Seven 2-parter "Gambit".

Patrick Carlin

Same as we have one of those at my work! ๐Ÿ˜†

Patrick Carlin

They have no idea what they are about to watch next in Move Along Home.

Eddie Roseberry

Great podcast discussion! It never occurred to me that the episode's villain Vantika has some similarities to the vampire (a villain who dies, but is not really dead). For a long time, I previously thought Vantika had similarities to something more obscure, such as a ghost demonically possessing other people's minds (similar to how the murderous entity Redjak took over people's minds in the Star Trek: Original Series episode, "Wolf in the Fold") , though the vampire-esque similarity makes sense to me. Seeing Terry Farrell's puppy-dog appear near the end of the episode-viewing reactions was very cute! I hope that Armin Shimerman will be part of the discussion for "Move Along Home"...

Nicole Brettell

They keep saying JCB and I can only think of the ๐Ÿšœ

Craig Main

Dax and Jadzia don't just share thoughts. They cannot separate who's thoughts are who. They are a blended single being when joined

Jonathan Beresford

I love Terry's dog

Martin D

Armin, with the spoilers!! lol

Jonathan Beresford

I mean I don't want to cast shade but HOW was Robbie the only one who knew Vantica had transferred to Bashir from the START. then Garrett saying a freeze frame 'spoiled' the episode???? It was obvious it was Bashir!!!

Jonathan Beresford

References to the Starfleet security officer being a cowboy become more true with the next episode, "Move Along Home", when he says rather goofily, "Constable O-do!" As always, thanks for the episode all.
