The Delta Flyers - Q2 719 Video

The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch & recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang & Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Q2. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars. This week they are joined by some special guests for a short interview.

Q2:
When Q finds his rebellious son too much to handle, he brings him to Voyager in the hope that Captain Janeway can teach him responsibility and compassion.

Keegan is just like his dad!

Dee McGee

Fun episode- but each is now precious til the end so that effects my enjoyment. LOVED the father/son interview and interaction.

SnazzyO

Like father like son..dad had to get his powers taken away too a while back lol

Labrek

It was wonderful to see father and son together! Great interview!

Jen V

Loved the guest interview. Some great stories and anecdotes. Some really insightful points from Keegan. And the pride on John’s face around Keegan’s achievements was great to see.

millymilsner

What a treat to hear from the special guests together and to hear what a fascinating career has been forged post Voyager. Thank you for this delightful interview!

Sarah Chlapecka

It made me smirk a lot when little q is representing his essay on the Continuum "I,Q" because there is a novel by Peter David and John de Lancie. with the same title. I loved that u got both de Lancies on th show, great episode, guys :)

Kassandra

So unbelievable that neither RDM nor GW remember that last Q episode where Q literally had a baby with Miss Q. The baby was even in the last scene. Come on man. How are the comments in this podcast reconciled with previous efforts as a producer with what was put on air in Chuck when every female actor was sexualized? Apparently the boys did not have a problem with the 4 or 5 half naked women gyrating around in the engineering disco scene. Why not a comment about them? The missing mouth bit was done in ST: TOS episode "Charlie X". The character Charlie caused the mouth of female crewman to disappear. This could have been the first appearance of a Q as unknown aliens gave him this power so he could survive on a planet that he was alone on. The line that Keagan stated was incorrect grammar was delivered correctly. The line as said is "...the only thing to eat was paramecia". That is correct grammar. They are flying around asteroids not meteors. In what universe does the statement "I really loved this episode" equate to a rating of 7.whatever? Come on man! Additionally, in the interview portion he states that this is one of his favorite episodes yet still gives it a 7.whatever. What in the sam hill is going on with his ratings? By the way, the Klingon homeworld is called Kronos.

ST Fan CB

The Admirals’ rating for this podcast episode has got to be nine point nine nine nine nine! That was special. ❤️

Jeff deRhodes

Yeah, I've often argued with Trek-friends that Q is not a villain, but "Chaotic Neutral" at best. I often get back "Well, he introduced the Borg to us" and that's not true either. As established in TNG The Neutral Zone and VOY The Raven, the Borg were already at least a bit aware of humanity and/or the Federation. Q accelerated (a bit) something that was already going to happen, but more importantly, the Federation was not caught completely unaware.

Dustin Snyder

I'm sure this was answered somewhere but I don't know where to look. What happens when you finish the final episode? Will this podcast end or continue with a different format? Thanks

Deb

I have had the chance to meet Keegan & John de Lancie at conventions. I enjoyed chatting with Keegan back in 2001 at a convention just before Star Trek Enterprise aired but after Voyager had ended its show. I had not seen what Keegan looked like since the show ended.

Christopher Collins

Nor does she yell at him - her response will bore him. It’s the perfect way to deal with a teenager who is trying to “get your goat.”🙂

Emmett Mullins

Well that was just DELIGHTFUL!!! What a fun and interesting interview!!! Huge good surprise in a disappointing week. I just loved it.

Karen Chuplis

Exactly! Quit trying to be offended by something!

Chad Heroman

Exactly, I think Rob and Garrett are like typical Hollywood people who go around looking for something to be offended by. It makes no sense. Being offended because a 16yr old wanted to see a naked chick? Seriously, if Star Trek Voyager is too offensive to someone, they should sell their TV. Voyager is as vanilla as it gets

Chad Heroman

OMG I can’t tell you how thrilled I was by the guest interview! As you were introducing I was thinking “oh is it John?!” So I was delighted to see him. And THEN for Keegan to be there too?! What a bloody treat. I crushed on him/Q hard back in the day haha It was so amazing and special to hear from them both about the episode and the things Keegan has done in his life. Thank you so much for that treat! Also, that was one of my favorite ever post- credit as libs hahaha flecture goo and shuttle wash - hilarious!

Erica Larabee

He was on Voyager, S2E20 - Investigations :-) As an uncredited Science Officer :-)

Allan Roneklint

Keegan de Langue’s first credit…. Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday was first a children’s book by Judith Viorst. There are 2 or three “Alexander” books. Most have probably heard of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Laura Johnson

He prefers Yorkshire Gold which is a type of English breakfast tea

Scott Lewis

Robbie, I wish I could have captured it but my Miral was interested in the computer when you were saying Miral :)

Jeremiah Brown

I, for one, love how nonplussed Seven is in the 'nude' scene. She does not run, or hide, or try to cover up. She shrugs it off, like 'whatever, I'm busy.'

Elizabeth C Tully

Separately, you mention your double being a Borg in this ep Robbie. Did you guys have any of your doubles appear on this podcast? I haven't caught up with them all yet but it would be awesome to hear from them about the world of being a double. Did they also do any stunts or anything dicey?

Humaira

What a joy to see Keegan on the podcast as well. When I heard the Jordan story I thought, hold on...isn't the King a fan and didn't he appear in DS9 or was it later?

Humaira

Oh my goodness, what an absolute delight this has been. I have been listening and watching whilst getting through Monday morning chores and laughing out loud so much, and what a surprise at the end! I felt thoroughly entertained and involved, and it was really good to have Robbie and Garrett, asking questions,. I love the story about the king of Jordan email from John. Try o all the Delta Flyers team a million thank yous. This podcast is how I begin my new week and so long as the Patreon email arrives in my inbox on a Monday morning saying the new episode of Delta Flyers is here. I know that all is well with my world. I really appreciate you, heartfelt, thanks, Sophie

Sophie Kirkham

I did not realize LeVar Burton directed this episode. That explains why it is so good.

Christopher Collins

I did not realize the actor portraying the Bolian in the Holodeck program was that actors first on screen role. He did a great job I thought.

Christopher Collins

Janeway asks why don't you send us all the way home, well Q tried that in an early episode, and Janeway refused is offer. Did the writers forget that little detail?

Andrew Murray

A fitting punishment for Junior would be listening to Neelix talk non-stop for eight hours.

Andrew Murray

I'd say give Icheb some credit. He's an ex borg for goodness sake, with 100,000 species knowledge in his head. I"m sure he can capably fly a shuttle.

Andrew Murray

Q junior the school bully who gets the other kids to do their homework for them.

Andrew Murray

that'd be funny having Q Junior playing Space Invaders (and I mean the arcade-style game) on the astrometrics view screen.

Andrew Murray

Speaking of Kate's love of coffee, did the same apply to Patrick Stewart, with a real taste for Early Grey tea?

Andrew Murray

clever casting, father and son as father and son.

Andrew Murray

I like how most of the Q-centred eps actually continue the story line each time, probably starting with Quinn, whose death that leads to the Q-war whichthen leads to Q2. I suppose much like in TNG, each time he appeared, each "torture" he put the crew through was trying to prove his case, per "Encounter at Farpoint".

Andrew Murray

This is the first one Robbie has gotten right in terms of story. Mind you the "made up" synopsis he gives week to week is all part of the fun of this podcast.

Andrew Murray

Yeah it's tiresome to see products of their time judged through 2023-colored glasses. I enjoy rewatching any given classic Norman Lear show over any stuff produced now, by about three orders of magnitude.

Ja Dav

And I'm really finding it hard to believe that the guys didn't at least try to see a Playboy or something at that age. Same thing! 😂

Craig Drebit

Hmmm I'm finding it hard to be shocked or offended that Junior enjoys seeing a beautiful, naked woman at his age. Yes, it's gratuitous but isn't that the point? We have 25+ years of teen comedies through the 80s, 90s, and 00s that deal with the exact same thing. Do we get super uptight about American Pie or similar films now?!?!?!?! 🙃 They had the exact same premise and were a product of their age and target audience!
