Harmony through Time Mighty Mouse

In the DS9 episode Little Green Men, Quark's universal translator is a chip in his ear. Maybe the Federation uses similar technology?

Anomaleigh

My parents were aworking couple, opened a shop together. Shop still running, still married, 3 children, the oldest is nearly 42 yo (me)

Hefefloeckchen

We see a lot of places in Trek where different aliens get together so the Federation can't be the only ones with universal translators.

MG

At the end of Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy, Janeway authorized a project implementing the Doctor's ECH program.

Dee McGee

I really enjoyed this episode but it doesn’t stand out for me as much as some others. I enjoyed seeing each person find their niche - Janeway dives deep into technical but her playful personality is allowed to shine. Paris gets fired by Seven (the efficiency expert) -ha! But then shines as a people person. B’Elana’s story was so sad. I’m glad she got support from Tom. Seven as the efficiency expert was spot on. But, and yes it’s true for many episodes, I was confident we’d have a complete reset at the end of part 2.

SnazzyO

I thought it was a hilarious idea too 🤣

Jen V

I think Garrett couldn't hear the Cheers song without the microphone being right next to it.

Jen V

100% with RDM on this one. This is one of my all time faves. Maybe it’s the actor in me but I love how character driven it is and getting to see who all these people might be without the influence of their Starfleet careers. It allowed the actors who were playing brainwashed to play the more personal side of their characters and focus more on relationships than the sci-fi problem of the week.

Wallis Quaintance

The way the crew was playing other people in this episode is exactly the same as "The Killing Game", so unsure why one is liked and the other is not. "Well we are still playing ourselves with our memories wiped and not playing a character". This is generally true but how can Paris be the same person without his memories? Those memories and the experiences that generated them are what makes Paris who he is. Without them, he is not the same Tom Paris. Explanations make no sense. Bone up on your tv show theme songs!

"Replicated" roast works since the food is not real animal based meat. It is replicated so clearly no animal was killed in the creation of that roast. Much like "impossible" meat that is sold today.

Eric Bennett

Amazon would love Seven as an efficiency supervisor. lol

Sony

Robbie's Chakotay alien montage idea is hilarious. Talaxians always reminded me of Sam-I-Am and Whoville characters.

Sony

The enemy ship most likely had shields, but became inactive when the tractor beam was used. Go Doctor!

Sony

"It was made from meat? I'm gonna be sick" "Maybe all those command subroutines are compromising your medical abilities." 🤣 Harry Kim had some funny lines

Sony

Like Robbie, I love (and always loved) this two parter episode.

Sony

OK, that is TOTALLY a Wilma Deering jumpsuit! Nice pull, Garrett :D I think Wilma’s was a bit more cleave-tacular…at least I recall my dad really enjoying Buck Rogers when Wilma was on screen 😂

Katherine Livick

Also maybe that has universal translators all around the city sort of like holographic force fields. I liked janeways face when she said I think I'm gonna like this job MUCH BETTER than my last one and thats where it cuts for commercial. The first time I saw that I was like WHAT IS HAPPENING???

Dawn Smith

I think a vegetarian would not eat an animal but replicated food is fine. The meat nectar was apparently real meat.

Dawn Smith

Didn't the doctor officially get ECH programming later on?

Nancy Lapierre

Oh, I can't wait to watch this one. LOVE this episode!

Katherine Livick

Totally with Robbie on this episode's rating. Workforce I and II are FANTASTIC episodes and I remember the first time I watched this aged 12-13, the cliffhanger had me raging! I'm really surprised at the Captains and Admirals. Their rating has me shaken to my very core. Here's hoping they rate Part Two correctly! 😂

Charlotte Telford

You do! I think was about a bunch of teenagers working at a dude ranch. I didn’t watch it but I saw ads for it all the time when I watched other Nickelodeon shows.

Mary Burch

the doctor presenting a holographic portfolio of aliens for Chakotay's disguise would have been fun too.

Andrew Murray

Agree with Robbie - The Killing Game was great, but a completely different scenario, with crew members playing American soldiers or resistance fighters etc, or simply townsfolk in the occupied town. You see faint elements of their usual selves but not as much as in "Workforce"

Andrew Murray

earlier discussion about universal translators(not having com badges), maybe it's done by subdermal communicators.

Andrew Murray

Well, black coffee is Janeway's signature - suppressed memory or not.

Andrew Murray

I thought J-C had a meal or were about to but it got interrupted and Chakotay made some off-hand comment about Janeway's pot-roast

Andrew Murray

Els Shi Dan sounds like Tel shi-ar backwards.

Andrew Murray

how do the aliens suppress Tuvok's mental discipline that aids him in suppressing emotion, since in Workforce, he's smiling and jovial, whereas in "The Killing Game" he's basically Tuvok, Janeways right-hand man, and suspicious of Seven once her neural inhibitor was severed, as Seven tried to keep up appearances without much success.

Andrew Murray

Invisible script? green cover page doesn't play well with your green-screen background?

Andrew Murray

Garrett might have played "God" but at least he didn't send people back into a warped version of Robin Hood with a grumpy Klingon.

Andrew Murray

I loved seaQuest DSV. Anyone know which episode Garrett was an extra in?

Dustin Snyder

This was one of my best episodes of the series too! I was looking forward to them recalling these two episodes! I’m glad they explained where this was filmed because I was curious.

Laura Robles

I noticed the exact same things that Garrett starts off talking about. Neelix not letting good leola bark tea go to waste, and the delightfully sing-songy sound of Janeway having (nearly) zero responsibilities. So well done. I also love the way Harry says " ... meat nectar ?!"

Tara

When it's replicated, is it REALLY meat? Seems more like textured vegetable protein.

Don Eitner

"Vegetarian" Chakotay ate some of Seven's Beduvian quail just LAST WEEK...

Ja Dav

"Hey Dude", if I remember correctly, was a Nickelodeon show.
