The Delta Flyers - Shattered 711 Video

The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch & recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang & Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Shattered. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

Shattered:
When the Voyager is fractured into different time periods, it is up to Chakotay to convince Janeway of what has happened and return the ship to one single time-frame.

Garrett and Robbie's reactions to the JC moment were priceless. Admiral Kim's Bar and Grill

Such an EXCELLENT episode. And I loved seeing Chakotay smile. He doesn’t do that nearly enough. As for a ‘hall pass’, I’d say ‘no’. Because Chakotay would remember and that’s not fair. Great episode. THIS is what makes Voyager such a good series.

SnazzyO

This is the episode she should've guest starred in!

Jen V

This is easily one of my top 5 favorite episodes, maybe even top 3. In truth, this episode had such great nostalgia it should've been the penultimate episode, filling fans with nostalgia right before the big 2hr finale of Endgame. To answer the question about "what happened to Janeway and Chakotay 17 years ago", I believe it was implied that the moment Chakotay crossed over he simply disappeared from the present and the crew assumed he died and his body was never found. As for Janeway, note in the present when a dying Tuvok sees past Janeway he is surprised and expresses relief that she is okay. This lead me to believe the accident that eventually kills Tuvok also killed Janeway. As for who the Captain is 17 years later, it's probably either Tom or Harry. Since Icheb is a Commander I think that suggests that he's the first officer, sadly meaning that either Tom or Harry might also have died at some point later on.

When Garrett and Robbie started this rewatch I told myself not to get my hopes up that they'd even notice JC let alone be shippers. I've received so much ... guff... for the last 25 odd years for this being the one ship in all of fiction I never got over, that I was was steeling myself for the pile-on. This episode is my absolute vindication. You see??!! I'm not the only one who sees this, and loves it. I'm not crazy, I didn't make it up. It's. Right. There. Plain as day. One of my favorite episodes for all the reasons they loved it too. Proof of the feelings we all knew where there all along. Yes, Robbie, yes. Thank you. <3

Barbara MacDonald

This episode was a fun romp through the past episodes of the series serving as a bit of a "previously on Voyager" catch up before the ending.

ST Fan CB

Just read a bunch of his tweets and other comments that I never have heard of before. Guy is douche bag. I hope he never works in the industry again.

ST Fan CB

From the look on Jack O'Neil's face at the end, I'm sure he did more than just kiss her. I bet they did it until the timeline reset. Chakotay could have done the same.

ST Fan CB

I just wanna clarify that this episode is not why Manu didn't get cast in Picard. It was because of his comments to Anthony Rapp after Rapp accused Kevin Spacey of sexual assault. I like Manu. I've talked with the guy enough to know he isn't a bad dude - but that being said, he handled that situation very poorly.

Christopher Marshall

This episode reminded me a little of Window of Opportunity in Stargate SG1. There is also a temporal distortion and at some point Teal'c and O'Neill just do stuff they like because the timeline is reseted after some time. And therefore O'Neill resigns and kisses Sam at one point, JC could have done the same, I would have loved that

Kassandra

Though Kes didn't make an appearance and she would have been onboard during one of these timelines.

Eric Bennett

They licensed it from a website after GW listened to hundreds of different ones.

Craig Drebit

Woof, I wanted J/C to hook up as much as anyone but the idea of them doing it at this point because it "doesn't count" is so problematic hahah. Like, Chakotay would just take his Carnal Knowledge of her with him into the future while she goes back to knowing nothing? Yikes, man. If I were Janeway and I found out I'd be furious.

Ericka Birkenstein

I'm new here and I've noticed nobody is credited for the theme song. Who created the theme song for the podcast? It's very catchy!

Jen V

I am so so excited for Lineage! I had really been hoping they'd get Roxann on for it because I know how she loves the episode. Squeeee!

Rach V

I think she would have been really shocked/angry trying to compute the situation because, well, betrayal and she really dislikes Cardassians, etc etc. I think this is the only thing that just doesn't quite fit in the episode (frankly we all know how little Janeway gives about the temporal prime directive so that's not an issue) and it niggles me every time; it's my missing scene. I love this episode; it's one of my favourite episodes of all Trek time, but that just pulls me out and means it's not top of the list.

Rach V

I wonder how it was supposed to have worked for the different sections of the ship - somehow nobody had a window or sensors that told them they were lightyears away from where they should have been? :P

Irene Artho

Robbie, Chakotay only says there are SOME barriers they haven’t crossed yet…probably extra kinky stuff. They definitely did it in Resolutions. JC for LIFE.

Mike Gu

what a unique take on a classic 'clip' like show

Kathrine Rieger

Workforce I believe was meant to remedy this. Until they changed the Jaffen storyline

Gretski

No, she's just very confused because in her eyes they are mortal enemies - yet Chakotay is acting like they are fast friends.

Craig Drebit

The only problem with J/C having a free pass is that Chakotay remembered everything! He'd have to continue his life knowing that he had something with Janeway and couldn't have it ever again!

Karen

My JC shipper heart was so happy at this weeks rating for Shattered. It’s always a 10/10 from me ❤️

Carole Patterson

Loved this ep and your recap of it! Can't wait for next week!!! Now that I am caught up on DFs, I have to be patient for next week.

Krys

I think Tom Paris would be next in line--he stated in Day of Honor that he outranked her not only by being commissioned as a lieutenant a few days before her, but also because he was "a bridge officer".

Angela

George Clooney didn't know his lines in ER either. He wrote them on the bed sheets. Go rewatch a couple episodes of that first season of ER, he's always looking down --- which I'm sure most people assumed meant he was looking at the patient.

Kathleen Scherrman

When they meet 7of9 I found it odd that Chakotay didn't get the bioneural circuitry. He'd been on Voyager for 7 years so knew it inside out. He should have either known it straight away or when Janeway suggested it, he should have cottoned on straight away. Separately in response to "Tom and B'Elanna hadn't met"... he was in the Maquis for a short time. Chakotay knew him but we never found out if B'Elanna knew him or knew of him.

Humaira

Don’t forget Colm Meany in Hell on Wheels!!!

Dawn Smith

"Some barriers we never crossed" YET!!!! You can see that she wants it. She totally has a crush on him.

Kathleen Scherrman

Since we're noting what B'Elanna shouldve noticed, seems like she shouldve reacted to Seska being Cardassian too since Seska was her BEST FRIEND in the Maquis

Tashicat

Whoops! Wang wondered whether or not Tuvok was captain in the future with adult Icheb and Naomi when Tuvok died seventeen years earlier (later scene), so maybe Captain B'ellana?

Norman Buchwald

I am so happy to hear Roxann Dawson will join next week. Does anybody know what she is directing in Prague? I know they are filming The Wheel of Time there, and... well, I'm just curious :)

Trine Våbenø (Triyan)

The Captain Proton thing was a matter of younger Janeway not believing she'd willing to participate in the story as the "Bride of Chaotica". Would she be more surprised to run into the EMH in the corridor (wearing holo-emitter) or encountering Da Vinici in the Holodeck rather than Proton?

Andrew Murray

We finally find out that all the shippers have been wrong all along! 😆👍

Craig Drebit

I think this older (younger?) Janeway would be shocked if they walked into the scene where Chakotay's making her the bath, and her new best friend is a monkey....on the planet they are stranded on.

Andrew Murray

"chronoton" sounds like a new wristwatch "the Apple Chronoton".
