Start of Book 2

We are heading to Goatshead first, as the nearest port where we know anyone. So what are we doing there? (Like I said in other posts, next week is an AMA compilation. Send me DMs with any questions you may have towards me or any character in the story.)

Get Rosie a cheap replacement arm. Jerry can attach a skeleton arm to Rosie, which will have ok manual dexterity but basically no sense of touch and an effective strength stat of 9. It’s perfectly functional for day to day activities but not very good in a fight and noticeably worse than a normal arm. She will definitely need to relearn the fiddle. Costs about 10% of liquid assets, and doesn’t remove the option to get her a better arm later.

Get Rosie an expensive replacement arm with Jerry. This will cost about 50% of Emrys’s liquid assets, but it will be a real, living arm with the ability to build muscle and integrate fully into her body.

Kill Sosima and have Jerry resurrect her on the spot. This will sever her contract with Vishgurv and allow her to bind other spirits… but she’s contractually obligated to resist. Also an expensive procedure, costing roughly 70% of Emrys’s liquid assets.

Have The Man’s Promise squibbed while we are getting it repaired. The Master of Gales and Harrigan will accept the theft and move on, but those unrelated to the theft might take offense based on conjecture and need an awkward explanation. Other Rahadoumi sailors might want to know what happened to the crew of this legitimately acquired ship, for example. Costs about 20% of Emrys’s liquid assets.

Attempt to arrange an achievement hunting orgy. The House of Amber Silk is the best place to go for that if we want it to be… uh… enjoyable. But paying that many high class prostitutes all in quick succession in a small town brothel would be ridiculously expensive, eating 100% of Emrys’s liquid assets easily.

Be less picky about the weird awkward self imposed orgy mission. There are cheap streetwalkers. We can hire a ton of them for a disturbingly low price. It’s much less likely to be all that enjoyable, and the men (even most of the party) will probably find this very strange behavior for the captain to be engaging in. We can probably manage it for around 10% of our liquid assets. Some of these girls are pretty desperate tbh.

Burn enough money to sleep with 46 women in 24 hours and pass 4 milestones at once. This might be a much bigger reward, potentially, but it will be really damn expensive, awkward to explain, probably not very pleasant, and something of a logistical nightmare. This will absolutely clean us out on funds, and requires that we make money in some other way just to get enough cash to do this without going bankrupt.

No orgy now. Commit to sleeping with only the three girls we have already slept with in the party, as if that were a difficult self imposed challenge, and circle back around to these options in a bigger town with more money and a larger population of whores to draw upon

Distribute death notices and shares of treasure to all the fallen members of the Wormwood via post. Paying people to deliver these things would cost about 20% of our liquid assets.

Play music for money. This will probably be enough to cover basic food and drink for the crew without putting anyone at risk, but it won’t be a serious money maker.

Hire the party and maybe a few extra members of the crew out as security. Plenty of people in Goatshead have a need for protection, due to cut throat competition between different businesses. Play defense, which often means that no actual fighting is needed if you can scare any assailants off. This will keep the men busy and make about 30% of the party’s current assets after expenses and splitting the take.

Hire the party and maybe a few extra members of the crew out as hired muscle. Being aggressive is more profitable because actual deadly encounters are vastly more likely. Morally dubious, but this could make us back 60% of our assets and might start building our brand.

Magic item crafting. It’s printing money, but it’s a full time 8 hours a day kind of job even if you can reliably find buyers and materials. Could potentially double our money but Emrys will be too busy to do much leadership as captain.

Try to get sponsored by Break Neck Jerry. He has expressed at least a mild willingness to invest in Emrys as long as he can make a reasonable ROI. He also might be willing to buy stock in the form of doing services. Of course, not paying back a modestly powerful necromancer would be a bad idea.

Try to get sponsored by the Sea Shanty Clan. Goblins are a bit erratic, but as demonstrated by Rowe they are good to have on your side. Also, they are probably the best people to go to for repairs.

Try to get sponsored by the informal lords of Goatshead. Sweet Wilihem and Dancing Darla are not in good standing with the pirate council, so they wouldn’t count for the plot milestone, but they are a pair of hard motherfuckers willing to thumb their nose at the Hurricane King.

Sell the Man’s Promise and downsize to a smaller ship. We can make a pretty nice lump sum and get a ship that 10 people or less can sail easily.

Ask around about the history of Goatshead and learn about politics in the Shackles. It’ll be through a fairly extreme libertine lens, but they almost certainly know more than Curtis. Alternatively, just ask Cog and Sandara for a somewhat more moderate local pov.

Recruitment drive. We don’t have a ton of people on hand, and will have less since a decent number of our people are going back to Harrigan. See if we can get anyone in Goatshead to sign on. We will draw upon people we talk to in other options first, so we might bring on some cheap prostitutes or goblins if those are the people we have made contact with.

Grill Autopilot for more information about Emrys’s home life. Seems we might have missed some pertinent info.
