Good news, everyone!
Added 2022-04-26 22:11:27 +0000 UTCSo, basically, the procedure was entirely successful and I’m now no longer growing white hairs at a visible rate. The whole thing’s still not over, though, as we’re now in the critical 72 hours to see whether there will be any trouble with the new lungs.
To make a long story short: my father will remain unconscious and sedated for up to a few weeks while his body adjusts to the new organs, and I’ll be staying with my mother in the meantime. During this time, I’ll keep writing (among other things, so I don’t drive myself insane while thinking in circles), but obviously it’ll take me some time to regain my stride. The current plan is to write both a Ginosko chapter tomorrow that’s been worked on for a while now, and the last Haruno Doesn’t Go on Dates should be published on Thursday, as I had it thought out and should be a shortish chapter. It’s likely I won’t write anything on Friday, but Zaimokuza will make a comeback on Sunday, and from Monday on… Well, I’ll see what I manage then, but Wordsworth was halfway done and Wake-up Call had some work done on it as well, so I may or not manage to hit the ground running.
That being said… Thank you, everyone. Your support means a lot, and knowing I can take it a bit easy over the next few days is a huge load off my shoulders. Really, I feel better than I thought I would at this point in the process, but I know I won’t be at a hundred per cent for a while, so thanks for being patient with me as I… basically wait and bite my nails.
… I think I needed more fiber in my diet, anyway.
EDIT: Sorry about the delay on both Ginosko and the last Haruno date; it turns out emotional rollercoasters are exhausting. Who knew.
That being said, the rollercoaster has all been good (great) news up till now. I didn’t want to bombard you all with more updates until the next update, but, at the same time, I feel bad about withholding information, so here it goes: my father’s already awake, which is basically unheard of, and has already managed to eat by himself, is speaking, and breathing without any extra oxygen. It’s… Well, I can certainly say I wasn’t expecting it to affect me this much, but here I am, struggling to put it into words (which, given my actual job, is kinda mortifying).
Thank you for putting up with me, everyone. I wasn’t even aware of how much the previous situation and constantly seeing him deteriorate while waiting for a viable donor had been messing with me. I hope, once we’re done dealing with the direct aftermath, I’ll come back stronger than before. For now, I’ll just keep glaring at the half-written Ginosko chapter until it decides to sort itself out of embarrassment.
Hopefully. It’s a new tactic I’m trying.

Coincidentally enough, I was reading a Jimmy Carr book. Let's just say I'm really glad we're nowhere near the kid's ward...
