We did our “injected” resin clouds (by adding opaque white resin to clear blue resin” and while they are more “interpretive” clouds, we actually both really like how they look! So after deciding that we’d move forward with that technique, we started taking apart the sword to make a mold from it. We were expecting it to be solid all the way through, but when we removed the handle, we discovered that A KNIFE HAD BEEN CUT OUT OF IT!

This company also sells knives so I can only conclude that they were trying to be material efficient, but it meant we had to cut that handle off and cut a new handle piece on our laser cutter before making our mold.

Good as new? Let’s hope so! Evan also 3D modeled some handle pieces and a cloud shaped “hand guard” that we need to make a mold for and luckily those turned out just fine on the laser cutter -K
