Evan tried the cheap stained glass kit
Added 2023-04-10 18:33:14 +0000 UTCHey y’all! So we’ve made some progress on the “Cheap vs Expensive” stained glass kits, specifically on the cheap one. As per usual, we did rock paper scissors to decide who got what and Evan ended up with the cheap kit for the 4th time in a row haha.
Honestly at first we were pretty impressed. The glass seemed pretty nice and having it all pre-cut was super convenient.
But then when Evan tried to solder it… everything became a hot mess. It’s hard to capture in a photo just how horrible it was to work with. Notice the crustiness.
But he’s convinced me, for science, that it’s ok for him to dip into the “expensive kit” supplies and try the flux and solder from that one to see if that helps him identify what the weak point is in the cheap kit. So onward we go! -Katelyn

You should also make sure the copper is super clean. I think it's supposed to make the solder not stick well if your finger oils and dirt and oxidization are on the copper. Clean with lemon and salt and then wipe with alcohol to make sure everything's clean if you're still having problems.
