The last round of purple dye faded SO much faster than normal :( Our best guess is that it was old and lost some of its potency
So today, i got help putting in a freshly purchased bottle of purple. π€ for better staying power this time
I've been dying my hair at home since 2013 and learned a lot of tricks over the years for keeping the mess down ...
Prep: the biggest trick is to get EVERYTHING ready before even opening the dye box. I don't use the gloves that come with it because they suck (and are usually too small for my helpers hands). When it comes to spills, I hope for the beat but prepare for the worst: having the cleaning supplies handy (paper towels, bleach spray) for any mishaps is key. I also lay down newspapers or, ideally, a layer of plastic (garbage bags are good makeshift tarps). The newspaper will absolutely let the dye go through it and stain the floor underneath so newspaper is not a great barrier but I use it if I have to.
Step 1: comb my hair, and tape my hairline so it doesn't get messy
Step 2: after the dye is in, clip up my hair, then carefully place a shower cap over it all
Step 3: wrap a turbie towel around the whole thing and secure it in place for a few hours
