Added 2023-08-24 06:25:10 +0000 UTCThis is my favorite photo of myself. (It's not a nude you just can't see my bikini) It's from 2004 and it was taken by a Chicago photographer whose work I really love but also have mixed feelings about his role in the ... model industry.
He was generally super awesome to me but one time he took me aside to tell me I could really have a career in modeling if I could just lose ten pounds. I weighed 125# at the time (I'm 153# now for context). That did not make me feel awesome
But it's still my favorite photo

That’s ridiculous but also emblematic of how we objectify women. And we do it with you. I’m not immune to that. When trying to appease the standards set by others that bring physical and emotional harm, it’s time to STOP!!! If I objectify anything about you, it will be your immense focus, your unmatched creativity, your ability to wield a fancy pants sewing machine or a light saber … and … of course … your pockets. I love your pockets!!!

I truly believe that great things happen to good people (like yourself) and those who try to discourage us from doing what we truly love are either jealous or need to look in the mirror at how sad they are. Enjoy life to the fullest no matter what it brings to us.
